What a fun video-do more collars. I’m one of those people that think TWSBI Diamond 580 in Iris is super cool-so on Helen’s team with that one. Definitely think my beloved pilot e95S AND my Custom 823 are also mega cool in that they work like a dream and are so so smooth! Plus I love the burgundy and gold of my e95S! However, to be on the Uber cool train-you need a few dazzling Benu pens too 😚

Interesting. I definitely agreed with everything that went in the "not cool" category, most of them beautiful, functional, but not standouts. The TWSBI Vac700R Iris is gorgeous and eye-catching. I like Benus for their creativity and because they write so very well. And I'm so grateful the glitter can't escape from the resin and make a mess (every mom has glitter memories). 1. A fun exercise, and a new way to look at your pens. Of course it leads to disagreements. For instance I would put both the E95s and the Carène in Cool, and the 823 and Benu in Not Cool. 2. I think the Sailors in unusual colors are all cool, though I only have one, the Pro Gear in Winter Sky. And all the Franklin-Christophs in pure colors (other than black) are cool, of which I have three. Finally, my two ultra-slim pens are cool, the Lamy CP1 and the old Sailor Candy. The Candy is quite ridiculously thin, such that its dedicated cartridge looks like some kind of joke, almost like a toothpick. My 42 other pens are Not Cool. 3. I've been pondering for a couple years getting a Sailor anchor tattoo. Maybe while my wife is in the Alps, making lace...

I was sad to not see the Conway Stewart Churchill with lever fill. In my opinion the pen with such a rich history, retro look, and that lever fill in this day and age elevates it. Great video! I only disagree with the Sailor 1911, because my 1911S in "Wicked Witch of the West" is the coolest pen. Gorgeous color and a smooth writer. It's a purple gray that reminds me of the London Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 regiments "Hodden Gray" kilts. That's why I renamed it "the Scottish pen".

In 1963 President Kennedy, a cool guy, offered his personal pen a MB 149 to German Chancellor Adenauer to sign something. The MB 149 became far more famous, cool, edgy in diplomatic and intellectual circles and for me is cool. The Esterbrook’s with swappable nibs and that reliable Parker 45 are also so cool!! The M800 Pelikan Brown and Black cap cool, Kaweco Dia way cooler than my AL-sport, Sheaffer Targa with cool inlaid nib! Pilot Falcon and Justus 95, MB Bohème, so Cool. Uncool most TWSBI, Jinhao’s, Pilot 823 and Preppy, E95S,

Montblanc 149 douchey! I've always thought of it as a lawyer, not as a midlife crisis. More of a Mercedes (staid) than a Corvette (midlife crisis and a bit douchey). But it's also like a Rolex. Classy, douchey or staid, depending on who's wearing it. But then, isn't it really the case that the man makes the clothes, not the other way around? The man or woman makes the pen. I think the Sheaffer inlaid nib is one of the coolest, most beautiful nibs ever created. The black Targa my parents gave me is just a wicked cool looking pen. I never use it (it has a broad nib; it makes me feel like I'm writing with a Sharpie), but I do love it. I wanted to buy that Ystudio pen, but I held one and suddenly felt like I was back in grade school, stuck with the pencil that was too short. Definitely cool, though. Like my grandmother, who would have pulled a pen out of her bag and wielded it like a sword. Anything in Grandma's bag would have been cool. Even a tube of lipstick, which is what the E95S looks like to me.

Famously, Steve McQueen wore a Rolex Daytona. My favorite nibs are a softish medium on a 90s Delta, any of the Pilot WA nibs, and the Schon DSGN monoc nib. I’ve walked on Etna (cooled) lava. Love the Cartier. TWSBI is cool. Perhaps there should be a separate Bauhaus cool, where form follows function, and it works great. This would include the 823. Almost all inlaid nibs are cool! VPs are cool and Bauhaus cool, their design is simple and incredibly clever. I like the transparent blue 9019, though their nibs often need some work. BENU-s work because they have really wet Schmidt nibs, and they are ridiculously over the top design wise. Lamy is Bauhaus. Schaefer Legacy is mega cool. Thank you.

Hello My Friend! Nice to hear from you! Did he? I thought that was Paul Newman. He had a legendary Panda Dial Daytona. Steve McQueen, I believe, was famous for the Heuer Monaco. He may have had one too. Should have in any case. Your choice in pens and nibs are flawless, My Friend!

I completely disagree with her on the E95. I could totally see James Bond pulling one our of his front suite pocket, though his might blow up or something like that lol. Though she could just be reacting to that color way, I hate the gold/maroon, the black and gold looks way "COOLER". Great video by the way.

Fun video! I enjoyed hearing from Helen. But I have to disagree with you on the Pilot E95s. This is a pen that Don Draper from Mad Men would carry, and who is cooler than Don Draper? The E95s is Mid Century Modern personified, and not a Gramma pen at all. I do realize this is just a game... Let's see Helen again sometime!
