The koi betta fish are now four months old! Their patterns are developing and they look beautiful! They are starting to sexually mature and are beginning to flare, posture, and form territories. I like to refer to this phase of their development as the teenager phase :P

They're looking great!!! Just personal experience but I've had some mature enough to technically breed (I like to wait until they're at least 8 months old just to see how they fully mature and what traits might come out with age) at 3 months. You've got a couple females that are even a bit eggy already with prominent ovipositors. The reason none of the ones in the tank have made bubblenests isn't due to lack of maturity merely too many other fish for them to feel it's a safe situation to spawn fry in. Remember bettas like privacy when spawning and males that feel threatened will often eat their eggs and/or fry. If a male feels an area is too unsafe he simply won't make a bubblenest.

you need cattapa leaf if you don.t put it you will have fish without patern cause their colour scale not grow out = no colour betta fish, their pigment is limited one it.s why it.s expensive.

You take new tank n take all no colour betta fish n give cattapa at least that could help your fry to grow the pattern even small patter will make you happy already, last time i dun give cattapa for those no colour now realy no colour even 8 month, but now i take special care for no colour betta n now they have pattern but small one n it.s better than no colour.

Someone help! My tank got ick (whyyyyyy!?) And I took out the replaceable carbon filter, because the medicine calls for you to take it out, but after I get rid of the ick can I use the same cartridge ? Or will it reinfect my bettas?

Lana V just get another filter. You could even just replace it with a sponge filter that is easier to clean. That's just me being super cautious with my fish all the time I wouldn't trust the filter anymore after my fish got sick lol
