I've been working with an abalone veneer too. I didn't put any yellow in it, though, I've just focused on blues and greens. I've been using some interference colors to highlight some of the color bands after I cut the pieces out, to increase the iridescent effect. So there's just some faint glimmers of pink or violet in the pearl layers.
