A very helpful video, thank you so much for making it. I've followed from your previous video where NR200 starts. I'm expecting my NR200P white tomorrow to arrive and I'll be alocating my old PC in to this new case. My plan is to upgrade it bit by bit and I would start first with the new power supply. Now, my old PC is ADM Rysen 3 1200 with a GTX 1050Ti with old power supply of 500W. My question is which power supply is best option for few years run? Is it enough to go with SF450 as you did in this video or should I get a more powerful one?
@BensTechLab Жыл бұрын
Power supply choice depends on your other component choices like your next graphics card or next processor. In my case I was using a very low power GPU because it was more like a "server". So it is way more than enough. You should be able to google any graphics you want and find power consumption in watts. So its hard to recommend until you pick your next generation of parts.
@BensTechLab Жыл бұрын
If you aren't sure what your future components may be, then it might be wise to slightly oversize your power supply as every generation of GPU gets a bit more power hungry. The good news is corsair now makes a 600w and 750w version of this same powersupply! Check this out: geni.us/corsair-sf750

Does SFX relate to the size compatability or is it just a feature
@BensTechLab2 жыл бұрын
SFX is a physical form factor (physical size) which is smaller than ATX form factor ("normal size" pc power supply).

Wouldn't it make more sense to buy a high wattage power supply so that the fan doesn't even need to kick in while under load? So if you have in theory a PSU of 1000W and you only use 400W then the fans don't even kick in and the PSU is completely quiet. That's what I've been reading online for getting a quiet system but I'm not sure whether it's true.
@BensTechLab3 жыл бұрын
Some headroom on your powersupply is definitely good, but not the only factor. The efficiency rating is a big part of thermal performance too "silver, gold, platinum" rating. I went with the SF450 platinum which is very quiet. But also I dont have a big GPU in this build. If you are lucky enough to have a significant GPU you may want to go up a level. But also no need to over compensate.
@sv73633 жыл бұрын
@@BensTechLab Hmm well I'm building a PC without a GPU (for now at least, I have another older gaming PC which is still good enough), I think the wattage would be about 300 at max for the whole system. I got a SF750 because there was no 650 and 550 here, only the SF450. Without a GPU I think the fan won't even start up even under maximum load, essentially having 0 DB noise (except for the coil whine if its present).
@BensTechLab3 жыл бұрын
@@sv7363 Sounds pretty good! 👍 I think you'll have enough headroom on the 750W that when GPU prices come back to reality you will have plenty of power supply headroom to spare!

Corsair also makes a 750 Watt SFX powers supply, and Cooler Master makes 550, 650, 750, and an 850 Watt versions.

What graphics card are you trying to fit? I did see GPU prices are starting to come back down to earth now! Maybe I will do more build videos... pre-crazy-prices I had bought an ITX length RTX 2060 which I still use in my main video editing rig.

can you mod it to fit a small micro ATX motherboard (asrock a320m) + a standard size power supply? I have no problems with using cable ties and drilling aditional holes and my gpu is small, a 1660 super, so it doesn't take much space either

Any Corsair PSU ive owned have had bad coil whine while games run above 60fps. What are the best sff that dont have coil whine issues? Ill pay ANY amount.
@BensTechLab3 жыл бұрын
Hmm sounds like the coil whine is while under heavy load? I would recommend a higher quality (ie: "gold or platinum rated) powersupply and you could overspec the wattage a bit. I had good luck with these builds, but there is an element of luck what batch you got etc. So buy from a company with a good return policy! Amazon links in the description if you want to use them.

can the SF450 manage a 3060ti....?!?
@BensTechLab2 жыл бұрын
It will depend on your CPU choice and other system components. It is possible with a lean system design. But there is a 600w version of this powersupply too I believe. (FYI, I have a Core i9-10900k with RTX2060 on a 450w power supply with no other accessories aside from an SSD and this build is stable).

I got a Thermaltake white 430W regular size power supply in this case. I had to take two of the screws that keep the PSU chassis on, and use those screws to go through the case. Only downside is that obviously a GPU isn't going to fit now, my customer will never put a GPU in this. The fan points out where it's supposed to it worked! Not using the cage it's too small. I wouldn't even want a GPU in this case seems like a horrible idea that's more for large towers and a lot smarter of an idea in a real tower.
@BensTechLab3 жыл бұрын
Cool, with this mod did you put the power supply on the inside of the front panel?
@itstheweirdguy3 жыл бұрын
@@BensTechLab it fits in the sideways orientation only. It’s fortunate that the screws that hold the psu chassis together come out and fit through in 2 spots so it stays in. It fits pretty much the same and the fan aims out the side in the same spot a sfx psu would. Saved 20 bucks vs a sfx power supply and that only would have been a 300w. It’s totally fine if you don’t want a GPU because the full size atx power supply complicates cable management and would block some GPUs.
