Hey everyone! You can lower the blower shoes to get a closer scrape. We didn't because I didn't want to chance scraping my new driveway. But just wanted to let you know you can do that.
@DonaldAJr3 жыл бұрын
Personally I was hoping that was the case. I just couldn't believe it wasn't going down to the bottom. I was also thinking maybe they should put something on the shoes or turbines similar to Thick Rubber Mats. So that it didn't technically scrape the driveway It just brushes the driveway and into the back of the machine.

your neigbors must hate u for blowing snow in there area for them to clean up to bad that snowblower wasnt a snowmelter so theres a win win for everyone just saying
@billysmith59773 жыл бұрын
When you lower the shoes, the scraper bar should be about a 1/4in off the pavement. I’ve had no issues with my toro 24in 2 stage it ate through 18-24in of snow this past storm with ease. I did 16 driveways with it no issues
@EuroYardService3 жыл бұрын
I’d only recommend a tracked snowblower for longer, gravel, sloped driveways. They are too cumbersome for flat, cookie cutter, 2 car driveway properties and can’t play to their strength. The tilting is quite handy for uneven or gravel areas.
@andre2you3 жыл бұрын
After big snows I have to clear out a path in my backyard for my 18lb dog. I'm thinking of getting a track snow blower just for the backyard as the wheels just spin at times and I struggle getting my current (snow-tek) blower moving... I'm trying to justify the cost......
@dpaulsen1 Жыл бұрын
We had over 12 inches of snow. This did a great job getting the job done. Had to tilt the blower up a little to get above the 12 inches then put it down to do the rest. It did great with the heavy snow!
@georgemyers65183 жыл бұрын
Those track drive snowblowers really are in a league of their own.they work great. If you put on one of those universal fit vinyl cabs on it that are sold at Lowe’s and Home Depot they really do keep you dry and very warm.bend up an S hook out of brazing rod or something similar to hang a snow brush inside the cab is very handy also

This machine will sell like gangbusters the year after a 30-inch storm... But in all practicality, just about any reasonably big snowblower will do the job in most conditions, including my moderately beefy 42-year-old Ariens (bought outside of Boston in 1979, the year after the great blizzard).

Got the same storm here. SE pa area. Two days. Good time !!! Hahaha. I’m running the same truck As yours except a super cab and a Meyers commercial plow. No salter on gate. Lost money without having the ability to salt. Kept 500 pounds bagged for walkways and steps. Was Gone fast ! Got a call this am for several residences snowed in .... heading out with coffee in hand boys zzz God bless. Stay safe and let’s get ready for the next one.

Only bad thing is they don't clean to the pavement like a single stage, more or less for people who get tons of snow
@johngrossbohlin75823 жыл бұрын
It's a machine set up issue combined with the ice layer. The skids and/or scraper bar can be adjusted to scrape right down to the driveway surface. If the blower is going to be used on rougher surfaces then keeping the scraper high is the right thing to do so you don't throw rocks, gravel, etc. Shawn will have to decide what works best for the conditions under which it will be used--nothing says they cannot be changed for different jobs!

The shoes need adjustment, I talked about it in the end of the video.
@johngrossbohlin75823 жыл бұрын
@@SpencerLawnCare Yes, I caught that which prompted my comment. It also now occurs to me that perhaps folks don't know what skids/shoes and scraper bars are on a snowblower. Maybe a short video would help explain that?

Have you had any issues with the track drive? How hard/easy is it to maneuver this machine? Have you had opportunity to compare it to a similar track machine by Honda? If so why did you choose the Toro? Thanks

I myself am a super Ariens fanboy. I just love the shear power and size some of the older 2000's models are. That's what I have used at a a couple of properties. Ive also used one of the newer Honda track snow blowers. The thing is a absolute beast. It cuts through hard packed snow that the plows push up onto the sidewalk with no problems at all. Keyed start with a onboard 12v battery, hydrostatic, track driven, heck even the chute is fully controlled by a electric joystick. One of the things I like the most about their track driven system is the ability to hit that button and tilt it back some for uneven ground or for going over rocks and gravel. Or if you have some really crappy, bumpy asphalt, you can hold the button down and the unit will float over the terrain.

Back in the 70s, I had a Hann 28 inch snow blower with a 8 hp. Tecumseh engine and 6 speeds. It'd throw snow 15 ft. without any effort. It was really heavy. Unfortunately it was chain driven and I hit a gas cap from a car and bent the axle. Since the manufacturer went out of business 25 years earlier, I couldn't get a replacement. I gave it to a friend who put it on a go-cart. That thing would fly.

Great video. Has Toro worked out the bugs in the Hydro Drive? Sense the system is direct drive unlike Hondas geared Hydro Drive it puts a big strain on the hydro drive and the engine under a heavy load, like deep wet or hard packed snow. Have you had any issues with your drive system? Hopefully Toro worked out the issues with the Hydro Drive slipping. This is my first winter trying out my new Toro Power Max HD 1232 disk drive with tires. The trigger steer is defiantly the best way to go with these big machines. Pull both triggers and the machine goes into freewheeling mode. The machine moves around effortlessly. The Toro Machines are balanced extremely well. From all the reviews I have researched, the Toro HD machines don't ride up on the snow like some other brands have a tendency to do. No weights needed on the Toro HD models. I was really leaning towards an Ariens Pro Model, but the auto steer and the many complaints of keeping the machine going straight under adverse conditions caused me to go with the Toro HD model with trigger steer. The conditions I will be using my snow blower will be very adverse. Well, let's see what Mother Nature has in store for us this winter. Happy snow blowing everyone.
