Wayne, Have you considered to use thin flat sticks..like the disposable coffee stirrers you see at the coffee bar on the corner convenience store? You could bend and form them easier than tooth picks. And you could apply waterproof resin to the finished product and paint it. Try it out.

Absolutely awesome, the patience this had to have taken. Iv always enjoyed model building and I once started building a ship in a bottle and lost interest. This inspired me to take it up again. Dug out the tweezers and carving knives. 😊
