I made a Wimshurst machine by cutting out a plastic plate and two cooling fans.
The cooling fan is for DC 24V, but 12V was used to make it run slowly.
Capacitors were made using plastic jam jars, and how to make Leyden jars is in the previous video.

What a brilliant idea to use two motors instead of trying to get the different rotations from a single axis. This brings me perhaps closer to my own Wimshurst machine!

It’s quite an elegant machine too - could pass for art in a gallery!

Finally someone did this. Respect! You should do a step down transformer (mrTeslonian has video about how to) and measure the input and output wats.

Was thinking the same, if we can step down that high voltage to useable level there shouldn't be any back-emf on the driving mechanism, I've read mixed posts about the feasibility of the concept though.

@@JenkoRun It depends a lot about the driver. @skycollection ( and @windpowerandmore have done outstanding job with pulse motors lately. @doubleMinnovations have made pulse motor that can run on radio frequency. @lasersaber has pulse motor design that can run on static electricity. If you want to scale it up, use water bearing or speaker ring magnets. Tesla switch can drive two motors in series with almost the power of one. It just needs a battery or capacitor between the motors. I'm not claiming anything but it could be very close to convert more energy back than it needs to run. With proper flywheels proper tuning it just needs a start and after that small pulsing is very officiant. Like a carousel or swing.

It is thin plastic. cut into a circle shape.

I did this same thing a few years ago. But the motors failed shortly after running it for a short time. Could the electric field generated have caused that to happen?

Can it be possible to get more voltage like van de Graff generator?
@ThomasKim
@ThomasKim Жыл бұрын
A large disc is required to get high voltage. When the Wimshurst machine activated, a large amount of ozone is generated due to corona discharge.

@@ThomasKim not neccasarily you could make isolated layers of them on top of eachother glued together so that each aluminum field has more charge to it ... does not need to be large diameters but also thicker discs as i described
