Probably just a figure of speech, being that Shaquille reared as the stalls opened and looked like he had blown his chance, whereas Little Big Bear broke well, was sat in second all the way when tracking the long-time leader, to then take it up at the furlong pole and looking like he might win until only being headed inside the final furlong. Unlucky to come up against Shaquille then, if you like.
