Any strong opinions about BMI flight 92? Do you really belive that they shut down the wrong engine because they flew DC-9's that had unreliable engine vibration sensors? 🤔

Havent actually looked into that one yet, but will definitely have a look now and get back to you!

Ah now I remember it! I watched the mentor pilot episode on it a while back! Never knew of the DC-9 connection but that is an interesting take!

@Blasb96 to me it doesn't make sense that you would shut off the wrong engine based on smoke smell alone. I would check the reduction in thrust, epr on the affected engine and possibly the increase in egt if it was spewing flames and the vibration sensor, right? 😁

@Joshuamd80 Yeah I mean logically that make sense but could the human factor be the problem (aka either just stress-related or the DC-9 thing you mentioned)? Otherwise I agree that was one of the weirder things I have seen, hehe shutting down the wrong engine...not something you want to do🤣

@Blasb96 possibly. Apparently a passenger noticed the other engine was on fire, but word never got to the cockpit 😕

@@yuliagha3806 i would assume the earlier versions didnt even have INS! I think thats why it is only VOR/ADF setup in the coolsky one 😁
