Respect from here - I quit as a professional DJ in 1998 after 10 years on the road (club DJ), breaking new tunes in every gig i had - Used the for years hard practiced mixing skills on the turntables, to both please the crowd with their wantings and needs, as well as constantly integrating new releases to the crowd - new releases that in the start might empty your dancefloor (25%-40% loss at some places), but by persistant approach and having developed the "ear" for what will make it ahead, these tunes becames the NEW WANTED tunes by the crowd after 1 months work at each club, they would ASK for the ones they didnt like in the start - that is being a progressive DJ to me, that works as a professional! Performing a professional show, adding scratching on top, nice mint cuts, and even backspinning or use of sampler live in the DJ Box, gave the audience a exiting feel of pleasure to the Music that evening. Today (in Denmark) - I see these wanna be DJ's all over, its so bloody ridiculous - first came the DVD's by Denon way back, with their rubber buttons, nowadays, its MP3 mixers and software programs on the laptops, no proper scratching as its not even possible with that kind of setup (it can never beat the possibilities you have with your fingers on the vinyls with turntables) - YES i am old school, and yes i like technology too, but real DJ's are surely not what these wannabees are trying to bee, and YES to the words spot on from Coone here, its not because of the love to the music, its because beers, puss and just the party with them. MUSIC IS THE KEY!!!
