At 6'11 you'll need to be very heavy too to be strong enough to play, and at that point you are going to be less mobile to get up to the second level. Doubt he'll be able to catch a Linebacker. Guys that tall are better suited for DE tbh.

Yep. With basketball, you gotta have a certain amount of SKILLS to even get on court. With football, athleticism comes first, then skills. If you’re skilled and athletic at football, you can be a MAJOR problem on the field, but you can do A LOT of damage, just with your athleticism, and if you have the athleticism, they can always find a place for you and teach you some skills, it ain’t that easy with basketball. Football “skills” is more of a list of “do’s and don’ts” than skills. Knowledge of coverage etc, knowing where you’re supposed to be, where everyone else is supposed to be, what gaps to hit, what gaps NOT to hit 😂 etc. Intangibles coupled with the athleticism sets you above the rest, but it’s not necessary to play the game at a high level. An example would be Warren Sapp. I saw him saying he was a tight end when he came into the league and the coach wanted him to play defense and Sapp said he didn’t know anything about defense and the coach said it would be fine. (Paraphrasing) It definitely was fine. The point being, the man made it all the way to the nfl only knowing how to play his position, then was able to switch to defense and become one of the best to play his position. Plenty of players swap to totally different positions. “Oh you’re not good enough to play QB at the pro level, but we can move you to WR.” Happens all the time with different positions. Not really the case with basketball. You can be big, fast and jump higher than everyone else but if you can’t handle the ball at least a little bit, pass and shoot, you ain’t getting on the court. All that being said Simple’s mathematics means football is an infinitely more complex sport. 22 players on the field versus 10. Offense, defense, special teams..all separated from one another. As such it’s very reasonable that a player could make it all the way to nfl only knowing his position. It’s why knowledge of the game coupled with your athleticism puts you above everyone else. Because it’s complicated and people tend to only know what they’re supposed to do. 😂 “Doing YOUR job” is a big thing in football.
