In this Biology video in Hindi for Class 10 we explained how coordination in plants happen. We also explained different types of movements plants and reason behind those movements. This is a topic from the chapter - 'Control and Coordination' of Biology fror Class 10th from NCERT. Different body parts in a plant coordinate via two ways, viz., electrical impulse and hormone. Plants move in response to environmental stimulus. There are two types of movement in a plant, viz., nastic movement and tropic movement (tropism). Nastic movements do not depend upon the direction of the stimulus, whereas, tropic movements are directional movement. Movement in the trap of a venus flytrap is an example of nastic movement. There are several types of tropism found in plants:- • Aerotropism : growth of plants towards or away from a source of oxygen • Chemotropism : movement or growth in response to chemicals • Electrotropism : or galvanotropism, movement or growth in response to an electric field • Exotropism : continuation of growth "outward," i.e. in the previously established direction • Gravitropism : sometimes referred to as geotropism, movement or growth in response to gravity • Apogeotropism : negative geotropism • Heliotropism : diurnal motion or seasonal motion of plant parts in response to the direction of the Sun, (e.g. the sunflower) • Apheliotropism : negative heliotropism • Hydrotropism : movement or growth in response to water; in plants, the root cap senses differences in water moisture in the soil, and signals cellular changes that causes the root to curve • towards the area of higher moisture • Prohydrotropism : positive hydrotropism • Hygrotropism : movement or growth in response to moisture or humidity • Magnetotropism : movement or growth in response to magnetic fields • Phototropism : movement or growth in response to lights or colors of light • Aphototropism : negative phototropism • Skototropism : negative phototropism of vines • Selenotropism : motion of plant parts in response to the direction of the moon • Thermotropism : movement or growth in response to temperature • Thigmotropism : movement or growth in response to touch or contact • Traumatotropism : orientation deviation after suffering a wounding The factor behind tropism is group of hormones. • Auxin : helps cells to grow longer. • Gibberellin : helps in the growth of the stem. • Cytokinin : helps in cell division and present in seeds and fruits. • Abscisic acid : inhibits growth and responsible for wilting of leaves. 0:00 Introduction 4:11 Movements in Plants : Nastic and Tropic movements 7:46 Mechanism behind the folding of leaves of Shy plant 8:22 Mechanism behind the closing of trap of Venus flytrap 10:34 Tropism : Geotropism, Phototropism, Thigmotropism 14:14 Negative and Positive Tropism 16:40 Role of Auxin hormone in tropism 19:09 Different Hormones in Plants

Sir I am having a doubt on Geotropism, According to this the shoot and the root system of the plant responds to gravity, so what if the plant is been grown in the absence of gravity? Would the plant still grow?
@devjhabak1639 Жыл бұрын
No plant can grow without gravity. However there are some very complex exceptions. But overall it is not possible.

if there is no gravity so there will be no Oxygen so without oxygen plant can't grow
