When cops stop being caught in lies every time the public is demanding answers about potential police misconduct/incompetence, maybe people would care what you say. It’s pretty naïve to instinctively believe a cop in a friendly interview where he’s had 2 years to construct his narrative in the most flattering way.
@bonniegeppert39122 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. He is so arrogant to expect that everyone should believe him and the cops with 140 years experience but what he fails to recognize is that the distrust of the police in these communities due to their previous lies made the public automatically disbelieve their story. As frustrated as he is that the police were not believed imagine the frustration and hurt and anger of those victims who were treated unfairly, marginalized and not believed. Maybe he should take a second to reflect on that and understand why there was such outrage. In the end Brianna paid the ultimate price and she was an innocent beautiful young woman with a great future.
@abouttimeforarevolution2412 жыл бұрын
@@bonniegeppert3912 Exactly. There is very little (if any) regard for how their mistakes can ruin these peoples lives, and in this case it ended a life. It seems like all their available empathy goes to themseves and other police. Even if they made an effort to really show how much they cared about the families who lost someone, and the people it affects, the public might be more open to taking the police at their word. Instead we see them bending over backwards to justify their actions and cover their butts, and having no accountability for when they lie in the media.
@bonniegeppert39122 жыл бұрын
@@abouttimeforarevolution241 Well said! It also occurred to me as he was talking that he was more annoyed that the narrative in the media did not support his version of events rather than the fact that he was working for a Mayor whose nefarious idea of Re gentrification of the neighborhood utilized tax payer resources and risked the lives of the citizens of the city in addition to the police officers to implement his plan. His anger is grossly misplaced and his lack of compassion and empathy for Brianna and her family is so disheartening. You would think after a couple of years he would have gained some perspective now that he has more facts that he and his colleagues were used by the Mayor and cost an innocent woman her life.
@ShastaBean2 жыл бұрын
@@bonniegeppert3912 "innocent beautiful young woman with a great future"- - - ?? He says it took almost a minute without a response. I was sleeping the other day, closer to the door than what Brianna did, it took me maybe a minute to wake up, collect my slef and understand that someon was knocking. Had they been impatient and burst through the door before I open then regardless of their reason I would not only be in my right, but it would be ethically wrong not to open fire at the ones entering, and this would be 100% self defense, however regardless of the circumstance the Attacking police could not claim self defesne since they attacked. had they waited 2-3 minutes this would not have happened, therecore the police and ONLY the polce is wrong here and it is slightly disgusting of Off Mattingly to not admit to this fact.
