Back in the 1970's I had a 1964 Malibu SS Conv w/327 "mighty-mouse" motor. 300hp w/4spd trans. Great car until I missed a shift and way over-revved it. Still was in better shape than that Malibu "SS" you viewed. Thanks for all your vids, love watching!!!

I want to say for that tahoe hybrid at 13:51, i rebuilt a trailblazer with a similar front end setup that was in a worse state than that. they are relatively easy to fix actually, in fact that one doesn't even seem to even need a new radiator. that'd be a good backyard project. EDIT: and for that Lincoln with the burnt engine bay, $500 might be worth it for somebody with another panther body car to use as a parts car EDIT 2: also there was a malibu SS from 2006-2007. had a 3.9L V6 and a full black interior. was available both in sedan and Maxx form

I know this is an older video, but I just have to input some possible helpful info for you. I've seen a few of those 2200 Cavaliers and S10 trucks, and those are the money machines! A lot of people bash those engines, but they just last! My 99 S10 2.2 has almost 300k on it, and still running perfectly. Those oil dipsticks are common in those due to vapor convection in the tube. My oil dipstick has been rusty since new. I just replaced the timing set for the second time. Those Chevy 2.2's are relatively durable engines. The problem with those engines is where people just dont keep up on your fluids, like the coolant! Those engines are super easy to fix, and parts are cheap! I get why some people dont like them, but you can fix them up and sell them easily.

As a VW owner I know that the A/C when you first start the vehicle up you have to roll down your windows and drive for about 5 minutes so the AC could kick in and get all the hot air out and boy does it get cold.

The sluggish transmission in the Golf is normal, because it's an DSG, that uses clutches instead of a torque converter. When you tap the gas, it should engage, when you let go the throttle, it should come to a dead stop instead of creeping further.

But this behaviour is not inherent to a clutched box. I think this is simply manufacturer preference as to how they want their car to behave. E.g. I take it that with BMW, it will start creeping only after you tapped the pedal, but a Porsche with double clutch will simply start rolling. It even does that up an incline and will automatically open the throttle to keep going.

*Cadillac sts used to be built with the Northstar but the big issue with those was the mid-block seals more so than the head gaskets, i am a caddy man too i'm on my 4th now. first one was a 1994 Eldorado, and now the 3 Escalades. 2 EXT's and a SUV luxury. roll the dice man even if it was the head gasket they aren't that hard to replace. don't think that will be as bad as you're thinking it might be in the end. the glass is going to be your biggest issue*

passenger door on the golf/rabbit is easy, they have outer skins on the mkv models so theres no need to replace the whole door, which would make it a good quick flip. I own a Jetta and have had the door skin off in a garage to check the wiring looms which are known to break

Iam in northern ohio, those 2003 and newer Lincoln, crown vic, grand marquis are pretty much the standard for 80s and newer full size demolition derby, they are bringing $200-$500 depending on how black the frame is. It will get gutted of its 4.6 and fitted with a sbc. They are tough cars and they are everywhere

That wheel through the sunroof of the Malibu came off whatever hit it as all 4 wheels where still there on the Chevy. That's a good illustration why you don't pull out if you're not sure it's clear. Hopefully there wasn't a front seat passenger in there or they had it...

+Alan_Akbar Clearly it isn't. Whatever hit the Chevy was a large vehicle, something along the lines of a large lifted truck, you can see that by how high up the damage starts. It would be inevitable for a larger vehicle to climb up on the smaller one, especially when the smaller vehicle has started to deform in the crash, and then it's going to find the glass sunroof. The glass isn't going to do too well with 2+ tons of truck sitting on it so it's no surprise it broke through the glass and lodged in place, breaking the wheel rim (probably already damaged in the initial impact) away from the hub and the rest of the vehicle. I've seen truck wheels and tyres stuck in vehicles that have been unlucky enough to end up underneath them, so an alloy off a lifted truck is no great surprise...

+Alan_Akbar Don't forget that's ;an American car, they drive on the right over there so left-hand drive vehicles. The worst damage on the Malibu was on the right, which is why I said that, had there been a front seat passenger, they probably wouldn't have survived. I've no doubt the driver would have been injured pretty severely, a side impact of that magnitude isn't something you walk away from, but not necessarily immediately fatal. And there's no guarantee that this car wasn't involved in a fatal crash, some insurance companies do still sell off fatality salvage, vehicles have shown up on these videos where there is no way on earth that people who were inside survived but the vehicles still end up as salvage being auctioned off. Insurance companies have to recover money somehow...
