I am sorry that you are having all this trouble. Talking to your doctor is definitely the thing to do. KZbin is not really the place to give medical advice. Plus, you will need your doctor’s agreement because they will need to prescribe the medicated nebules and advise on the dose etc. A nebuliser will not necessarily stop the flare-ups though, it is generally used when inhalers don’t work or the person can’t use them. If your problem is recurrent infections, your doctor will need to look into it and advise you accordingly. From a general point of view, NICE says the following about nebulisers in COPD: “Think about nebuliser therapy for people with distressing or disabling breathlessness despite maximal therapy using inhalers”.

I am really sorry that you have had such a bad experience. KZbin is not the best place to advise on specific cases because of not having all the necessary clinical information. The best advice that I can give is that you discuss in detail with your consultant any issues until all your questions are answered. If you are not happy with your consultant, it would be possible for your GP to refer you to a different consultant for a second opinion. I wish you all the best.
