Lord Dabs what most people don't know is that you can sign anyone's name if you are a snitch. Your name will never go on paper unless you sign it. Cops don't protect anyone ever and have little to no power. The district attorneys office works directly with snitches, they will protect their info as to not blow a case or have retaliation in the future. Look up queen for a day district attorney. Their is a technical name for it I just forgot it. Jumping back, If I snitch on you I could write a females name on the paper work I could write your mother's name etc. I hope you get the picture. They don't make it obvious who rated on you, they know what they are doing. If anyone has ever been In a situation where they were pressured to snitch it would be through a district atty not the pd. The pd constantly tells people to snitch but the pd has no power and would have to take info to a da to get approval. However talking to pd just makes their cases stronger, if you talk to then you just snitch on yourself and give no cover to yourself leagally. You have the right to remain silent etc.

dside521 ok i get that and most of what u said is correct. But in the state of california its called forgery if you sign a false name. Even for rats. You can go in to the courthouse and get public records on peoples police reports. Now if they are a continued CI , thats different. And from what im seeing, that is not the case right now with cope. They just say he snitched, not was a informant. If he was being questioned and he gave names, ALL OF THAT WILL HE ON THE REPORT. This is how i found out who ratted me out in 09 when i was involved in a stabbing. All i had to do was go to public records at the courthouse and find the date and case number. Maybe in NY its different but out here the only form of rats that are protected by the DA are CIs. Not street rats or scared kids that dont wanna spend a week in jail. But i hate when people call people a rat, and have no proof cuz its happened to me and a few of my closest friends just because some dude didnt like us and wanted people against us. And it worked for a while because of how gullible and naive everyone in my town is. Ive even heard people say "I have paperwork saying u snitched" but NEVER show it because it doesnt exist lol.
