I grew up with my dad due to my mom’s addiction. She has passed as well. I’m much older than you and can tell you that if you ever decide to become a parent, you will be so much stronger and more attentive to your own children so that they never endure the hurt you went through. My mon passed away in September and she was an alcoholic and it was very complicated having a relationship with her. I feel like I mourned her, like you did, long before she actually passed. I've made peace knowing I did the best I could to have some kind of relationship with her when she was alive, but it's still never easy and I have moments where I'm sad and wished things could have been different. Best of luck on your new business!
