Hey, I just figured out I have Dystonia. I have been dealing with it forever and no one cares or believed me. I lost my job, finances, family members, friends and like you I would just roll around on the ground for hours in pain. I don’t know what to do I’m so alone but this helps. For me was the opposite I lost all my weight. Also was a competitive athlete I can’t even play basketball anymore.

I glad you found out what has been going on, but really sorry you have to deal with this also, especially at the severity level you are. I hope you can find some helpful treatments and start to put the pieces back together. I know how hard that can be so let me know if I can be of any help

Thanks again Tom for yet another great video! many takeaways. I believe I will be listening to this one every so often. Your positive attitude always shines through what you say. I feel like I am getting better with dealing with Dystonia but still have to use sensory touches to my face to stop the pulling. Do you have to do that, or are you able to keep that at bay with the exercises, etc. that you use?

I really appreciate that very much. Thank you. I still use sensory tricks, but not all the time.. Only in certain circumstances when the contractions are beyond the point of my control doing other things

Will I eventually become crippled? I’ve only had it come and go in phases everytime I got stressed but it’s only ever been in my arm and leg (always left side)
@averyalyssa4279

It also only happens for a few seconds whenever I stand up or walk too fast

I hardly think that you would become crippled by this. When you say it comes in phases, can you expand on that in terms of how long face’s last and how is manifests? Also, have you been diagnosed with Dystonia? It’s very rare for it to happen the way that you described where it’s only for a few seconds after getting up or walking to fast. It’s definitely possible to manifest during those times, but this condition usually is not something that happens for a moment and then goes away for a while

At different times depending on the severity of my muscle contractions. Early on when they were really severe I had a hard time speaking because I was always gasping for breath because of the pain. I never had actual breathing issues. They were related to the muscle spasms and contractions and pain
