Hello, I really like your range hood and I would like to build one like yours. Is there a way to slow down the video or get some additional instructions/dimensions? thank you

What the best way to clean this type of hood? I purchased my home last year and it has a custom hood very similar and it is getting dark/black

If your hood is developing a patina it was most likely not sealed. Most of the copper work I do is patina and sealed, but some is kept bare to age over time. If your hood is developing an undesirable color it's possible to have a local metal finisher come rework it to your liking. You could do this yourself as well, but there's an awful lot of mess involved. Most refinishing is going to restore the copper to its base metal (shiny) - if that's your desire then from there you would want to seal it with a lacquer, urethane, or clear wax. Acid finishing to patina a hood while in place would require patience, you would want to use a fairly diluted acid in order to best control the color you're looking for, followed by sealing to keep it from changing over time. Wax is the least permanent of the sealers, but is easiest to apply in a home setting.

In this video I used a compound called Formax - 120 grit. I use the compound on a 6" cotton string buffing wheel.

May I ask what was used as a patina?

I used Birchwood M-38 diluted 50/50 with water. Applied via sponge with a water supply handy to neutralize as needed. Purchased from Sculpt Nouveau.
