I just acquired this kit, I've found this very helpful. Your build is quite stunning. Thank you for pointing out the rudder mix-up, I will be careful with that when the time comes. Your rigging is superb, I've made a mental note of some of your methods. Thanks.

A huge undertaking but a spectacular result.....truly a testament to your artistry, FCM. It was an amazing series and a pleasure to watch so thank you for sharing your skill, especially in this field of aircraft modelling which is a rarity on YT channels. Hopefully the next build won't be as time consuming so will be looking forward to seeing the next notification.

Thank you for the comment, yeah, 4.5 month for one model is too much, I agree. The next project will be much less complicated with less rigging, but the plane has the same country of origin and also no ailerons ;-)

Built the 1/48th float plane version a few years back. My first big venture into rigging. OMG it took me forever and I just could not manage turnbuckles in 1/48 I know some people can but it was just too much. Nice to be a subscriber and look forward to learning a lot. I have a Felixstowe planned for next year. Good help me. 5:12

Wow! I swear that plane is mostly made of wire... I don't know how you find the patience to do this - it looks fantastic. I was really pleased with my only biplane model (a Bristol Fighter) until it spontaneously imploded under the tension of the rigging - god, that made me jump...
@FlyingCircusModels

Thank Steve, I'm really glad that you liked it. After the project like this, that has a lot of rigging I like to build something more simple, so the next project will have much less rigging ;-)

Another amazing video. So inspirational. I’ve started my first WWI biplane and am so pleased that I found your channel. One question if I may? You often mention that you use the 0.6mm blue hypodermics, which have an inside diameter of 0.3mm. You then use 0.2mm nylon thread for the rigging wire and end up with two pieces of wire in each needle piece. How do they fit?
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels Жыл бұрын
Thank you Derek, good luck with your WWi planes. Great question, I started to google the inside size and I found out that my needles have 1-1/4", which is 0.65mm, but on the label I have 0.6mm, the needle type is 23G. Same thing could be with the wire, it was 0.2mm on the label, but the actual size could be smaller.

An impressive build! Infact after watching the first two episodes, I was so impressed I bought one myself. Attaching the wing struts looks like a nightmare?
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels Жыл бұрын
Thanks Don, no actually, it was pretty easy, you just need to attach the central ones (the blue one and central cabane struts), put the top wing and outside struts will be very easy to attach.

Incredible skill and patience. Are the fits on the model as good as they look, or are they the result of a lot of dry fitting and adjustment by yourself?

Hi, for the small drill bit to make anchor holes, did you make a custom tiny drill bit from a hard wire and attached to a syringe for easier to turn in hand drill? Thank you for shatring these videos

Hi Steve, no I just purchased some small drill bits and glued one into a medical needle
@stevewang7348

@@FlyingCircusModels can you share the website where you bought the tiny sized drill bits? Thank you 2 additional questions if I may. Did you try using monofilament fishing line for rigging and how did that compare to using thread? Interesting idea to cut a syringe needle for making turnbuckles. Do you find it easier to cut needles or 0.5mm brass tube, or about the same? Thank you for sharing your thoughts
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels Жыл бұрын
sure, I purchased mine from this website - www.micromark.com/search?keywords=drill and I haven't tried brass tube yet, because I had so many needles, that I brought with me to Canada, but I'm running out of them, so I may buy and try some in the future. About rigging, I received a package with EZline and I want to try it on my new project, so stay tuned for new videos ;-)
@stevewang7348
@stevewang7348 Жыл бұрын
@@FlyingCircusModels I had experiment with EZ Line a while back in searching for a reliable rigging line for 1/48. Personally, I found EZ Line to be flimsy and stretchy, which made it very difficult to "thread" through the anchors and the turnbuckles...I have seen some modellers who just "glued" EZ Line to the anchor points, instead of looping through... That may appear less realistic. Look forward to see your new videos.... I have also tried this WildFire thermally bonded thread from Beadalon.... It appears to be more durable than the normal threads but it is challenging to be trim cleanly in tight spacing... Wondering if you may have tried this thread.

I usually use 0.2-3mm wires and I just bought a meter of electric wire (with yellow plastic cover) at a local hardware store, then removed cover and there you go - you have a lot of small copper wires
