Any officer that says the smell weed, searches the car, and doesn't find any needs to be on a Brady list, out of a job, and sued.

"I smell weed coming from your car." A: "Don't worry, officer, I can't smell worth a damn, either. My nose is so bad, I drive past the sewer and think it's wet seaweed." B: "I passed a dead skunk a ways back. Maybe you smell that." C: (silence) As much as I know I should take option C, I'd end up taking one of the smart-aleck responses. And unfortunately, my nose actually is that bad.

Absolutely! And just like the other comment, should be added to Brady list. I don't want to sound bad or upset people by saying this here, but, I have ONLY seen videos (tons of them) using this excuse of "I smell weed" where it happens to African Americans. I have never seen this excuse used on a white person. They may be out there, but I haven't seen them and being an American living in Spain, I watch a lot of YT. Anyway, "Driving While Black" is REAL. And this action is racial profiling. The higher ups need to ban this practice or be reprimanded once weed isn't found. I am so glad this guy has a camera in his car.

That is because cops think they are the final authority. They don’t realize, they are 5 tiers down from authority (supreme court). All cops think they are the boss. It’s a mentality game. Us against them. Cops don’t serve the people, they serve the authority. Not the law.

"Serve and Protect" doesn't mean the citizens, it refers to the Order, the system, or as you say, the authority. When I use the term Order, it's part of NWO. A cabal runs our world and part of their control system is to employ needlessly bloated legions of brainwashed dimwits (aka LEOs) to keep the system intact, therefore protecting the rulers. The ruling clan knows full well, no one they employ in their system will bite the hand that feeds.

That is because most officers are damaged people, lacking any emotional maturity; it's the reason they go into law enforcement, where the bar for competence, intellect, experience, professionalism and training is appallingly low. Other than Wall Street banking which requires more intellect and devious cunning, few other jobs allow--much less protect--crazy bully aholes as the field of "law enforcement" does.

Several States will now also begin to fire officer's as a result of Law suits, and violating peoples rights. The same supreme court also said that you must have a reasonable and probable cause to search someone (or something), arrest someone and and reasonable motive to detain someone BEFORE any action before, not after you found something. I really feel like a lot of this was just because he was black. That really makes me very sad. I'm a white guy, I try to be objective, and I wouldn't say this unless I believe it's true. I don't think they dislike black people, they just automatically treat him like a criminal. They're afraid of him. Maybe there were other contributing factors but that doesn't make it any better. I've been treated that way, but never because of my skin color. Police officers, please read the book "Blink" by Malcom Gladwell. It will help you to control your own subconscious mind, and help you avoid some of the pitfalls created by the subconscious. It is extremely well written and a great deal of research and scientific fact went into it, and it's explained in such a way that anyone can understand. I implore you, read this book, it might protect you from the very laws you uphold some day, by giving you greater control over split second reactions you may have in the field. How do you know whether to shoot or not shoot for example? Subconscious.

And precisely how hard did you fight against your peers or even higher ups when they too were being assholes? And please, don't tell us that you always obeyed the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendment rights of people. Even close friends of mine that were cops told me that they didn't. I didn't respect them for not doing so, but at least they had the decency to tell me that they did. One, a state trooper, even told me that they do it because people don't know the laws or their rights. What great reasons! Aren't cops, wasn't he, supposed to be KEEPING THE PEACE and not inciting people nationwide. As they say, if "good cops" really existed, then there wouldn't be any bad cops. The only truly good cops that I've known have quit after several years for that very reason.

@@kareemebanks3785 yeah I had no idea what they were like on the job. He knew I knew sign language and couldn't locate his interpreter that worked for the department. @@bayoulafourche Ditto on thank you for helping with the sign language that day with the traumatized deaf gal, & ditto on being smart enough to recognize what a horrific, absolutely wrong & disgusting thing the manner in which cops treat American citizens is, as it has unfortunately evolved into as just common practice today. I'll bet your almost-boyfriend there was just baffled by your reaction to what is to him just the mundane, perfectly okay, & acceptable behaviors he engages in as a police officer every day, & the likelihood of his not even understanding the problem makes an even sadder statement about the state of affairs in this country than just its reality. I really have to wonder what sort of folks he & his partner were dealing with that day, though- was it mostly the poor, or minorities, or even maybe teenagers, or who, because _generally_ , the more affluent, white citizens of our nation actually don't end up experiencing the kind of treatment you saw & objected to- if they did, we would suddenly see successful calls for sweeping change?

We generally don't have this problem, in south africa we have a lot of corruption and bribery where most people would bribe the police with a R100, which is equivalent to about $8 or $9. There was a case where someone bribe the police with R500, and then the police sergeant made a video about how disrespectful it is to bribe a officer with R500 if you have R3000 in your wallet. That is the kind of police we have in SA. Something worth noting though is in South Africa, the police can pull you over just to see if you have valid license. Which I know is illegal in the US. they really do need nationwide training to keep them within their boundaries better. And we need a civilian review board. @andyfletcher3561

Yes! Civilian review boards. I'm not much on federal mandates, but there are a few this nation truly needs. Civilian review being one, but I'm not going to do the 50 paragraphs on that as I could do. Body cams and dash cams for ALL law enforcement, that also must be kept on at all times interacting with the public.Turning them off or muting the audio needs to be a criminal offense, even if it was intended to help the civilian. It's tampering with evidence no matter how you try to excuse it, which is criminal. ''Stop and ID'' is unconstitutional regardless of any state's statutes or codes. California, as of 1-1-24 requires law enforcement on contact to begin any interaction with the LEO's name, badge/employee number, agency, rank within that agency and all reasons for them making contact. Should be uniform across the nation. SCotUS also needs to revisit Mimms and Terry v Ohio. Both are entirely too vague and subjective. A nationwide ban on pretextual stops needs to be in place. If someone was ''weaving'' down the road, better have footage showing it. No turn signal or not used early enough, better have footage. Tail light out, better have footage and it better be out when the driver looks at it. ''Smell marijuana''?...You search, you BETTER FIND IT.

Window up, window down. You can see through glass. I still don’t see why the window is such a hazard. It’s just a intimidation tactic.

... isn't it ironic that they are scared as shit, but instead of approaching calmly and with respect, they pour gasoline on unarmed citizens , make threats, exhibit anger (and ignorance), escalate to explosion 💥 and then are surprised that citizens return the hate.

It should be mandatory that police / peace officers know the law and recite the Constitution

I have a cartoon version of the US constitution. Maybe every cop should have one, too. Maybe their mamas could read it to them.

I don’t know about that, most of these incidents with police are ego driven and I think if they actually knew more about the constitution they would use it against the average citizen. They are going to do what there going to do, I would rather fight in court against a cop who doesn’t know what to say compared to a cop who does know what to say

There should be reprocussions when officers lie about smelling weed, lying to create reason to search.

It should never happen. Law is based on verifiable facts. How many cops have evidence that they can differentiate weed from anything else.

They don't know the difference between weed and hemp , so if they smell hemp , they automatically say weed , which is wrong , I agree 👍 💯

The War on drugs needs to ended and ALL DRUGS LEGALIZED. No other domestic policy since slavery has been used to erode the rights of citizens and expand and militarize the police than drug prohibition. That's why police unions and other law enforcement groups always oppose initiatives to decriminalize and legalize, because they know that ending drug prohibition will single handedly take away more of their power and pretexts in one fell swoop than any other policy decision. Half or more of all arrests are drug related, so if drugs are legalized, half the arrests just disappear overnight and that means the justifications for half of all law enforcement budgets disappear as well. For the majority of people, drugs are the only illegal thing they ever do and the only leverage law enforcement has over them, if drugs were legal, these people would have no reason to fear the police anymore and think about how that would alter the power dynamics.

With each command to “roll your window down,” you can hear the uncertainty in their voices grow with each yell. You blew their minds. This was a power trip that they thought they could win. The cop was just pissed that the driver didn’t kiss his ass, so he tried to make the driver’s life miserable.

Looks like instead of making this driver miserable that he shot his own nerves and I wonder how hard the court laughed that charge the officer wrote up out of the court room?
