I'm a retired Deputy Sheriff and these cops have no clue what they are doing. I would have arrested Steve as soon as you showed me the video of him threatening you. I was a Deputy for 22 years and unfortunately many states have lowered their hiring standards and cops these days ignorant to laws they should know. Their uniforms were shameful looking. I am completely dumfounded they didn't at least write him a summons for menacing for threatening you. Like I said I would have arrested him immediately. You have the evidence.

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. If they weren't doing anything illegal, then they wouldn't have gotten defensive when you first went up to them. That cop clearly did not understand anything that happened. Good for you for holding your ground and for not giving away vital information (your gate code, your bid, etc.) The police should never have treated you like you were at fault. I pray that this all gets resolved quickly and that those two go to jail.....heck, they can take the cops with them.

I’m dealing with some shady storage facility right now myself. It’s a damn shame that it seems nothing can be done. The people working at certain facilities cannot be trusted. I can prove someone working at the facility went into all the boxes of a unit I bought for over $1000 and when I got there every box was empty. Company came right out and said their people didn’t take anything. I’m thinking about litigation, but will justice get served? Or will I just be throwing another couple grand away?

Both police officers body cams are turned off... That is crime too, they have to be turned on when on scene. When bodycam is recording mode, there is visible red lights blinking.

Seriously file a complaint against both officers for dereliction of duty for at least not taking a report. Them saying you'd have to press charges with the courts is false. I've never heard of such a thing. Yeah I would contact the two officers department and file a formal complaint against them. I would have arrested Steve and wrote a report on the shady auction deal to send to the county prosecutor.

Be sure to file complaints against these lazy cops, as well, since they did not follow their own procedures of investigation. FOIA their body-cam footage, any recorded video from the storage facility. Terrible.
