I was with a girl just like this, i had the same issue, i didnt want to leave because i thought i loved her, she was super chill, we got along really well, then out of no where she started getting super jealous over nothing, said its because she "didnt love me before, now that she loves me she cares", she would beat me, scratch me, i walked 3 hours to my dads house 3 different times (the last time being the 3rd), one day SHE say our neighbors outside, i didnt even see them, and she got super angry (she was drunk) and smashed a bottle of crown royal over my head (heavy ass bottle), then we started arguing, ended with me getting stabbed in the arm, she didnt call the cops because she didnt want to get in trouble. I went to the hospital 3 days later, I told them i fell on a broken vase (I was STILL with her, like an idiot) (I was also on the run at the time, because she had me trespassed from her moms house, the invited me back) I got back from the hospital, she got mad because she assumed I would of been flirting with the nurses (which I never flirted with any girl when i was with her, even got to the point where i had her driving my car and i would just stare into the floor board to not cause an arguement, but there would still be some, "Were you just staring at her?" "Who?!?!? im staring into the fucking ground") but once i got back from the hospital, she tried stabbing me again with scissors, thats when i finally took my 3rd 3 hour walk, spent a month living with my dad, and then turned myself in

This hits really close to home with me, its such a small world. This is super wild and no one will probably believe me but I went to high school with her younger sister. We were good friends, and through my experience at their house, plus everything my friend told me about Courtney has always been disturbing, sometimes scary. When Courtney was 16/17 she would threaten her parents, and really anyone, until she would get what she wanted. There were rumors that she was bibolar at the time, but now I think the harsh truth is she was a budding sociopath AND psycopath. Just an absolute terror. (Long ramble, feel free to disregard my message.) I feel awful for the poor victim and his family. It's absolutely devastating. He was so young too. :( I couldn't imagine the pain his loved ones feel.. There is a lot of evil in this world, things aren't the way they're supposed to be and it's sad. She clearly had insecurities that were so bad that she didn't get help for or control very well at all, especially using alcohol or other substances, making it worse, that's just a terrible mix. I hope that after everything, that justice is served, but I also hope she can get her head sorted too. I've struggled with jealousy and stuff before, I have bpd, but I have never been violent or wanted to be violent, I don't ab*se substances and I did a LOT of therapy, even now I still struggle with stuff, but with or without it, you need to hold yourself accountable too, you can't just take out your rage on someone because of your own insecurities, even if that person *DID* the thing you were most afraid of and hurt you in the worst ways, you still need to stay in control of yourself. I understand if people have moments of anger, that's normal, it happens even in healthy relationships from time to time, but when you're constantly enraged and the insecurities get to that level, you need some kind of intervention, whether it be break up and work on your mental health, go to rehab, go back to therapy, get spiritual intervention, couples therapy, or all of the above. Clearly, living like that wasn't enjoyable for her, she seemed so unstable and unfortunately the victim was her punching bag, because of how unstable she was. (I'm sorry, but mentally stable people don't do these things and act this way) no, I am not making excuses for her, but I think it should still be talked about, otherwise it'll keep on happening and people can be ignorant and say "just break up lol" but in saying that, when both parties don't want to leave each other, there's gotta be other options, or even encouraging the conversation of "it's okay to leave, you CAN and WILL be able to live without them, yeah it's gonna suck, but you aren't alone" etc. Maybe she really did see herself as the victim, while still "loving" him, (which makes it more dangerous) because all she cares about is her own pain and what's going on in her head, that she doesn't consider him and how he's his own person, with his own mind, soul, life, etc. Anyway, it's a terrible thing, many men and women fall victim to these relationships and don't even realise it until it's too late, which is why it's important to talk about this stuff. We gotta normalise people reaching out and asking for help from loved ones as well, instead of just saying "it's complicated" there needs to be some kind of conversation where people feel safe enough to talk about the things they went through, to then maybe feel comfortable enough to seek help professionally as well. There's no right answer, some people ended up dead when they left, so "just leaving" doesn't always mean you're safe either, which is terrible. some people got k*lled because they didn't leave soon enough, or because the justice system failed them... If you know of anyone going through something like this, man or woman, try to understand, these situations can be very difficult and complex and try to offer support if you can, or a helpline, or suggest they get professional or legal help, or just remind them, they aren't alone and what they're going through is not their fault and they don't deserve it. Please try to see the warning signs, if someone is extremely jealous without cause, consider if you'd like to deal with accusations forever, or ongoing issues with someone who's not mentally stable (which could escalate) some people do get better over time, with therapy and medication, self acceptance, spiritual guidance, etc, but for some, they never change and it's not worth it. looks fade, money gets spent, think about what's really important to you and how you want your future to be.
