Since the Enlightenment period, and its associated scientific discoveries, way too many people have spent countless hours comparing the Bible with contemporary science, or today’s science. Many books have been written on this subject-some aim at reconciling between Scripture and science; while others, attempt to refute either side. Today, many Christians still repeatedly pin the two against each other in their search for truths regarding vital issues like the Big Bang, evolution theories, etc. And, of course, Genesis 1 is at the heart of this battle. I agree with your interpretation as it is a popular them in the Bible, such as the 10 plagues or Paul at the Areopogus. Speaking of the 10 plagues you mentioned corresponding with Egyptian false gods, can you do a video on that please?

Young Earth Creationism is the only dogmatic, apostolic, and historical teaching of the Church. The church fathers were in unanimous agreement on this teaching; and they condemned those who rejected it as heretics and unbelievers (and rightfully so). And as for the Bible: YEC is written of, explicitly. Fr. Wissa, understand that you have many people following you, most of whom believe everything that you say, simply because you say it. Enlighten them on what has always been believed in, what has always been taught in our catechisms. Jesus said, “Do not be of this world…” ✥

Sorry for unrelated issue but gotta ask you .....Why isn't there any Orthodox christian apologetic? Like 90 percent of apologetic content on youtube is of Evangelical or protestant. While orthodox fathers should even teach those Evangelicals to the true faith, pastors having little knowledge of the bible and history are debating with non Christians. I know that there is a wisdom in orthodox church but I still don't understand why it's not out for watchers on youtube. Peace

Hello Roddy A, Good question! It does seem at times that Orthodox Christians don't do as much 'apologetics' works as Christians of a more evangelical or otherwise western background. This is because of Orthodoxy's constant focus on experience rather than data as the measure of knowledge. Where apologetics often espouses brow-beating people into 'knowing God' factually, Orthodoxy preaches the experience of the Risen Lord in the Life of The Spirit as adopted children of The Father. Facts can certainly help (and they certainly are not bad) but they do not lead people into a real communion with the Divine but rather into an intellectual assent to an idea conjured by their mind of the speaker or their interlocutor. The Orthodox Church wishes to bring people into the mystery of the communion with God much as the married couple comes to know each other in a far greater depth than simple factual knowledge. This is the main reason why Orthodoxy has never 'done' apologetics the way we have come to know it in the west. God bless you and may He lead you into all knowledge

There is no reason to believe that it should not be considered a summation of how the earth came to be.Most Christians throughout history believed that.

Hi Father Gabriel, If you allow me, I totally disagree with your approach to Genesis (with all my respect to the thesis you did) . You present a mixture of theories for many theologians and scientists. (Old earth , functional creation theory, framework hypothesis. Allegorical interpretation...etc) . Giving people false and superficial text interpretation. You’ve also misrepresented the young earth view demonising it as the wooden literal interpretation. Please father, take some time to read the young earth approach. As it’s the most reasonable true reading. As you are followed by thousands of people, and any false teaching will lead to a crisis in their faith . I am happy to communicate with you to discuss any topic in this regard.
