Over the past two years, the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has reached out to communities in more than 30 states across this nation. We have met with tens of thousands of people, witnessing the strength of their moral courage in trying times. We have gathered testimonies from hundreds of poor people and we have chronicled their demands for a better society. The following moral agenda is drawn from this deep engagement and commitment to these struggles of the poor and dispossessed. It is also grounded in an empirical assessment of how we have come to this point today. The Souls of Poor Folk: Auditing America report reveals how the evils of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, and the war economy and militarism are persistent, pervasive, and perpetuated by a distorted moral narrative that must be challenged.
We must stop the attention violence that refuses to see these injustices and acknowledge the human and economic costs of inequality. We believe that when decent people see the faces and facts that the Souls of Poor Folk Audit presents, they will be moved deeply in their conscience to change things. When confronted with the undeniable truth of unconscionable cruelty to our fellow human beings, we must join the ranks of those who are determined not to rest until justice and equality are a reality for all.

I wish people would start asking cops if they think they deserve that kind of money, that level of monopolization over taxpayer funds, so we can see them squirm. If we consider the police as people performing work, then yes, most of the salaries are justifiable. The real problem in the US is that everyone else performing relatively simple jobs should also be compensated to this level. The police are unusual in having one of the few remaining unions with any power, and one that is difficult to demolish because it conflicts with the "law and order" stance of the same politicians with strong anti-union sentiment. If everyone was well represented by labour unions, they'd be paid similar salaries.

What annoys me with some of these people who refuse to give their name to police 👮🏼 are the same people who ask police 👮🏼 for their badge/ID. Then get pissed when they will not get a badge number.

Why would it annoy you that people follow the lawz? It's because public servants are required by policy, and in some jurisdictions, by law , to identify themselves when asked by a citizen to do so. Citizens are NOT required, in most states to provide any identification to a law enforcement officer, or anytime, unless they are being lawfully arrested . Even in so-called "stop and ID" states, officers can not simply demand ID without reasonable articulatable suspicion that they have broken a law. What is it about this that has you so annoyed?

Life is so fragile. Almost all of us are one illness or loss away from homelessness. These are people, like you and I. Good point he made. Don't do immoral things for money. Don't do things that harm other people's already broken lives. The police should be standing up against the law if the law is telling them to do the wrong thing and harm others in the name of defending the law. If enough police officers stood up for what's right at the cost of their crap paying jobs, we would lose officers faster than new ones could be trained and the laws that are harming if not killing these poor people would be changed very quickly. If they are harming people for money, they are no better than the evil they claim to fight. There's a special place in hell for hired soul selling thugs. Put them on blast!!
