Thank you so much Adam.. That worked... Even I used to previously commit the changes to Ableton and do all that unnecessary work.. The key thing that you showed here is how to select the timeline and grid correctly so that the timing doesn't get skewed when you paste the notes.

SUPER helpful man, thank you so much for that! i have to spend so much BACK and FORTH time on my chorus's trying to get them to sound the same and i often find that i really enjoy the way i process 1 particular chorus but when chorus 2 or 3 get loaded in- like you said its kind of clunky and does NOT process the audio the same EVEN THO ITS LITERALLY COPIED AND PASTED IN PRO TOOLS (which i dont really understand WHY it would process differently, but it does!) NOW i can make all my chorus's feel the same (not in a boring way, but i work hard to create a special melody that hooks the listener in and i want them to have that same delicious vibe each time!). thanks again bro! and also thanks for keeping it quick and short! back to work!!!

This definitely works; thank you. Very clear tutorial. The issue I'm having right now is that when I paste the audio, part of it warps and becomes really fast as if it's being quantized. I'll respond to this comment if I figure it out.

@@AdamClairmont I found the issue on Melodyne’s site; apparently, it’s actually part of Melodyne’s functions and the way it behaves while pasting something onto the grid, but I still can’t find a way to deactivate that feature. The only work-around I had at the moment was working outside of Melodyne and copying the tuned audio region where I needed it. Definitely a very frustrating feature.

Sadly, I couldn't get it to work. Tried how you suggested, did a bunch of other possible "fix-trix".... nuttin' Ended up just copying in Pro Tools, and then re-running "Mellow-dine" (called thus because although it's pretty good, it is not great flexibility wise and reminds me of one of my friends at dinner having had too much wine...sluggish, mellow !)

@@EgorLappo hey so, I think I mentioned that this is kinda clunky. Celomony could make it much easier. So, first import audio into melodyne. Then tune. Then copy and paste. Also, and this is annoying, but try using the menus for copy and paste in melodyne. For some reason, I feel like key commands don't work all the time. Hope that helps.

Wow, game changer is right ! I found that if I copied and pasted after I Melodyne'd that the source of the copy got TWICE as loud ! Apparently Melodyne has no awareness of changes made to the source clips as Melodyne saves its data in separate files (I assume that's why). But trial and error is right because getting your copy pasted to be exactly aligned with the rest of the music can be hit and miss. Thanks, Adam. PS - I'm hoping I can do your suggestion pasting into a new clip.

OMG thank you. Copy and paste not working for me has been such anobstacle to using melodyne efficiently. I wasn't importing all of the time and just skipping to the choruses so I think that is my issue. Still kind of annoying you have to transfer the song several times for all the different takes. I have 6 vocals I need to edit so that's gonna take a while just to transfer in the audio. Kind of tedious program if you ask me but this is very helpful.

You're welcome. And yeah, there are some parts to melodyne that make you scratch your head... As for taking long to import all your vox tracks, you can either watch my video on how to import into melodyne faster or you can record enable all your vox tracks at once in melodyne, run the song down once and they will all be there for you. It doesn't take longer to import unless you do it one at a time. Hope that helps!

Thank you Adam for sharing this, I noticed that if I copied lets say the 1st chorus in Melodyne and wanted to paste that same chorus further down in Melodyne so it can come out in the 2nd chorus, it would let me do it (even if I didn't import the audio in real time). I had to copy, then paste and then put paste one more time (I don't know why but after putting paste two times, it did it.) Who knows, maybe this happens to some sessions. Cool thanks for this but is there a way to copy and paste but to a different track? Let’s say you finish tuning one track and it has another (double track), can you just copy the melody down tuning from the first track to the next one?
@AdamClairmont
@AdamClairmont 3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the question. Yes, you can copy audio from one track and past to another. You would select audio from the first track, then bring a different track to the front by selecting the orange "edit notes" button in the window on the left, then paste. One thing to consider here though, if you copy and paste like this, you no longer have a double, you have an identical copy. So, this may or may not get you the result you are after. Good luck!

@@AdamClairmont i have recorded a vocal using two mics so i need the exact same correction on both tracks to get a full coherent sound, otherwise the second mic becomes a sort of pitch effect. so if i tune the "lead" mic then copy and paste the tuned part on the secondary mic will i get the two in phase all the time?

Hmm no. When this happens you are deleting the note in melodyne right? Not the DAW? When melodyne is open and audio is imported, your edits in the DAW will not be recognized untill you reimport that audio or make melodyne inactive.

If you have another plugin like Vocalign or something on the chain, it’ll preserve whatever audio you transferred to it, even if you deleted it, until you re-record or re transfer.
