Is there anyway to transfer your music from iTunes to a flash drive? Thanks!
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
@@anythingispossiblewithtoni4580 Sure there is! Well I’m assuming that you mean copying from iTunes to a flash drive on your Mac / PC right? If so then all you should need to do is ensure that you’re on the lastest iTunes update/version, then open up iTunes, find the music/playlists, then simply select them, open your flash drive in a separate window, and simply drag them over.

I’ve always suggested this to people who really wanna save their photos for real. They always think this is complicated.. it’s alarmingly easy. You can even dedicate an external NVMe to sync anytime plugged in. Good video, if more people did this Apple would lose millions in cloud storage fees.. which are 99% paid because people don’t wanna lose pictures.
@KamaniBrown11 ай бұрын
My sentiments exactly my friend and thanks for watching! 🍻iCloud storage is mostly for convenience more than anything else. Both cloud and physical storage have pros and cons though depending on circumstances. But nothing beats old fashioned cold storage backup…. And like you said, it’s really easy to do. I doubt Apple will lose much if people are more aware because cloud storage does have its place in this increasingly fast paced and mobile world. I need it just as much as my physical cold storage.
@Errcyco9 ай бұрын
@@KamaniBrown you’re probably right there. It’s nice to have access from anywhere which cloud is ideal for. I just hate monthly fees. Like my google account.. my Gmail is all I have used for a decade. Now they are trying to extort a monthly fee to have more than 15gb.. the whole reason I bought a Nexus 6P way back when was the “lifetime 100gb cloud storage” but they backtracked on that in 2020. Had to delete like five years of work emails and get rid of more video in google storage to get back down to ~8gb used. Apple is easier to swallow but I use an iPhone and my main machine is a MacBook Air so it’s worthwhile for me. Still hate any monthly fees but I guess some are better than others. I’ll never pay google though, I’ll just use a different service that’s smaller if it comes down to it and I can forward from gmail or something.

That WD external storage is probably on NTFS storage format, therefore read-only, you'll see the same if plugged in to a Mac. However, if it is formatted in exFAT, APFS, or other mac-approved format, it will work.

I tried this and it just works great! Thanks for sharing this mate, really helped a lot! The only thing to really remember is to make sure the external drive is in exFAT format. I didn't do this at first and it was in FAT32 and the copying took hell of a time (20 pics around 20-30 minutes). The only thing I noticed is that why are some of the pictures saved as JPEG and most are in HEIC format?
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and really glad that everything worked out! You’re absolutely correct about the formatting part. It’s very important that your drives are indeed formatted to exFAT. As for the picture format, something of note is that it depends on your method of copying… if you copy the pictures using the method I used in the video, they will be saved in the universal JPEG format (allowing them to be opened and manipulated on virtually any other device). However, if you copy them using the “save to files” option, they will be saved in their native (original) format which will be HEIC (the standard compression format apple uses for iPhone photos). So my guess is that you may have been subconsciously switching between both methods in your backing up process, hence why some are in jpeg and some are in HEIC format… it’s a common mistake my friend. No worries.
@kiasohc Жыл бұрын
Hey @@KamaniBrown , thanks! Yeah I think you're right. Most of the time I was using the "Save to files" option which explains why I am getting the HEIC format. But I can confirm that it does not affect the video files as they are saved as .MOV. Thanks again! :)

Thanks for watching and Happy to help my friend. As long as your storage device (SSD, flash drive, etc…) is in good condition and without any factory faults, it will last you for years to come. They will last you almost forever if all you do is use them for occasional backup of data, and even if you use them heavily every single day, they should still last you years no problem. And no there will be no degradation of your data. Your data will be fine as long as the storage device is in tip-top shape and doesn’t fail, which yet again (as long as there’s no factory faults) would be years to come. Remember the iPhone itself essentially uses the same flash memory type found in modern SSDs and Flash drives.

Hello my friend. Yes I recommend that you format the drive to exFAT format using a PC or Mac first for best results. And yes you will indeed be able to view the Apple photos on a windows PC. There are 2 ways you may be able to view them: 1. Copy and paste them to the drive: then they will end up being copied in the universal “jpeg” format that can be viewed on almost any device. Or 2. Download the HEVC extension from the Microsoft store to support the format. Although if you have a PC with an updated windows 11 it should just work regardless, without you having to download anything extra.

@@AmalSony well my friend backing up your data is always a great idea. But like I said, if you’re using any iPhone below the 15 series, you will need this adapter. If it’s an iPhone 15 and up with the usb type c port, then you will be able to use a SSD or any usb C capable storage device directly with the phone. Also, if you get the Sandisk iexpand, ensure that you format the drive to exFAT (using a PC or Mac computer) first before trying to use it with the iPhone.

For it to recognize your SSD please ensure to format the drive first to “exFAT” format using a PC or Mac. Afterwards, when connecting it to the dongle and the iPhone, ensure that you also connect a good enough power source. As for the photos, try to copy them in batches of a few hundred or so. I’ve never tried to copy as much as 4000 all at once. Also you have 2 ways to copy the files… 1 is to select copy and then paste it, the other is by using the “share” option that does a direct 1:1 copy of the file to the drive.

Will this work for all pictures, videos & documents on iPhone & iPad? How to know which storage device will definitely work without purchasing? Thanks for the video
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
Yes indeed it should work with any and all file types because it’s basically like copying / moving files between your iPhone and a PC / Mac in terms of the procedure. Almost any storage device will work as long as you format them in the following formats: exFAT, APFS, APFS (encrypted), FAT32, HFS+ of FAT. You will most likely have to format any storage device you buy into 1 of those those formats using your PC or Mac first before use. I recommend exFAT format because it will enable you to use the storage device on either Mac or PC, however, you can stick to APFS format if you are heavily invested in the Apple Ecosystem. It also goes without saying that the storage device must also be a single partition. For this purpose, I recommend this Samsung SSD drive: amzn.to/3YkWIdy Thanks for tuning in my friend 🍻.

Then you select “share” in the bottom left and just like I showed in the video, you may copy or move them to your storage device via the files app. It’s the same for the Files app as well, the only difference being that you will have to press the 3 dots in the top right corner to see the select function first. However, if you are selecting multiple file types (for example pictures and videos) at the same time, then the “copy” function would not be available and you will have to select the “share to” option instead which will copy over all files in their original format. So an SSD is a little box of external storage just like an SD card or a Flash Drive but with a much higher storage capacity so you're getting terabytes of storage rather than gigabytes correct? Just wanna make sure I get it. So if I were to start a YT channel using my phone to film, I would need to clear the photos off my phone to give me room for filming projects..How many 1 hour videos could I have stored on my phone before I would need to transfer them to external storage?? Approximately (I know the phone model and file sizes and other factors matter, but just as a general guess) I just want an idea of what I'm getting into..haha! Am I going to end up with hundreds of SSDs? haha
@KamaniBrown24 күн бұрын
Well it all depends on several factors my friend. What model iPhone are you using? If it’s an iPhone 15 or 16 Pro you can film directly to the SSD. Also once you get a SSD in excess of at least 1 terabyte, that will give you enough space for hundreds of videos (depending on length and chosen video quality/format). As for how many videos and pics your iPhone can store locally, that all depends on the specific storage capacity your phone currently has. It also depends on how much iCloud storage you use. It may seem like a lot to consider 😅… but it really isn’t. Once you get going, it’ll all click. Also congratulations on starting your KZbin journey! 🍻. All the best and most importantly have fun!

@KamaniBrown5 ай бұрын
@@donjohnson4635 happy to help and I’m glad that my procedure worked for you. As for your wife though, 1st check if the issue is with the iPhone and not the drive… Check if you need to clear the deleted folder (if you were trying to cut and paste). 2nd, if you are actually using the drive on a MacBook and had originally cleared the drive storage on the Mac, make sure to empty the “recycle bin” because the storage on the drive will not be truly cleared until that is done. The Mac still allocates that space just in case you decide to recover your deleted files and won’t actually delete them till you clear the recycle bin on the desktop.

Technically no there is not. However, you cannot transfer a ridiculous amount of files all at once. It’s best to restrict your transfer to a few hundred files at a time. What I do know for sure is that if you want to use high capacity storage without the need of extra power, the lighting to SD card reader with a high capacity SD card (512gb and above) will work. Hey your comment seems a bit confusing 😅. Are you saying that you only were able to save 16 gigs? And were you able to get that reel off to save the 40GB? Maybe I’m misunderstanding something here 🤔

My touch screen is not working. how should i take back-up

Wow that’s really unfortunate my friend. Unfortunately I am not sure how it can be done without a touch screen.

I have a couple old ipod touchs (6th generation), one is version 12.5.3 the other is 12.5.4. I bought a lighting male to female usb adapter to transfer photos to it via usb stick while I'm out of town and without access to my pc. I plug in the adapter and usb drive and they both light up as "on" and the ipods recognize it and even open up the photos app when its plugged in, but when I got to transfer the files, the usb device does not show up in my files app like it shows in your video. All I have on mine is "iCloud Drive" and "Recently Deleted". Do I need a third party app as a go between or something? I've also tried selecting the photos and "saving to files" but there is no option to place the photos in a folder as there is nothing under the "on my ipod" dropdown.

Thanks for watching my friend. Did you try reformatting the usb drive to exFat format? You can try doing that using a PC or Mac first and try again. Also ensure that dongle is compatible with the iPod touch.
@nym_ Жыл бұрын
@@KamaniBrown Thank you for responding. I reformatted the usb to exFat as you suggested and retried. The same issue still persists. I find it odd that the usb is lighting up and the ipod enters the photos app as if it recognizes the usb but the usb doesn't show up in files. I purchased the adapter from amazon, it listed the 7th generation ipod as compatible and a couple people said it should work as long as the software was up to date, which it is. I'm at a loss.
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
@@nym_ 🤔 wow… well unfortunately my friend it may indeed seem like the adapter is just not compatible. It is getting power (hence why you see both devices light up), but it is unable to transfer data. You can try the original Apple OEM lightning to usb: amzn.to/48sJlfY…. If that doesn’t work, nothing else will 😅

What do you think about we don’t eject the flash disk, hdd, and ssd? Is it ok for long use? Thanks
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
You don’t have to eject any of your drives from the phone. Once you’re done copying to and/or reading from it, all you have to do is pull it out. And yes it is perfectly ok for long use. Use it for as long as you want/need just like with using your computer.

I can’t believe I never looked up the camera adapter. I thought it was for cameras. I should’ve known since there’s a usb port. Do you know anything about the other adapter that only has the usb port?
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
Lol it was the same for me too 😂. But desperate times called for desperate measures and it works like a charm! I don’t own the other adapter with the usb port only but my guess is that it’s not as versatile and maybe only works with flash drives at best and maybe a few low powered SSDs.

Awesome!!! I am trying to move my uploaded songs from my iphone 12 to another iPhone but I haven’t had success. I don’t own s laptop any way this can be done?
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching 😊. This method will do exactly what you need my friend. The only thing is that if you plan to use a SSD, you will still need to borrow a laptop to format it to exFAT. However, if it’s a flash drive or SD card, you’re completely good to go without using a laptop at all. Here’s the video I made some time ago showing how to do this with either a flash drive or SD card without needing to format anything on a laptop: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmXYo599n6uNd7c Hoping this helps!

So helpful thank you! But what if I want to transfer 30k plus videos and pictures from iPhone to my external hard drive (seagate) what would be the best way? Would I need to use a PC or Mac? Could you make a video on that please ?🙏🙏🙏
@breejenningsxx Жыл бұрын
So would I have to manually select all my pics/videos in my photos library to transfer to drive ? Or is there a way I can select them all at once? Thank you again!
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching 😊. But for the external hard drive to work, you will need a powered USB hub like this 1: amzn.to/3MlMbdr Connect the hard drive to it, then come to external power to the powered usb hub, then connect it to the same usb3.0 to lightning camera adapter that was used in the video (linked here and in description: amzn.to/3tXG4Fv ), then also connect external power to that, then you should be good to go

You know a program to organise photo on win11, i drag photo from iphone xr, i see only rotate pictures, and strange number folder???
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
That’s strange. I’ve never encountered such an issue. Did you copy the photos exactly how I showed in the video? Because if you did, they would be copied in JPEG format. But if you shared it to the storage device by using the share button, it will be copied in the original HEIF format which may give issues with trying to view on Windows PC.

How do you select all photos then copy & paste ? No option for me I’m on iOS 16
@KamaniBrown Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there’s no real “1 click button” to select all photos on iOS 16. You have to go in your gallery, then go into the “recents” folder which usually has all your photos on your iPhone, then simply press the select button in the top right corner of the screen like I showed you in the video, then tap/select the first picture to the top left and then (while holding your finger down in the screen) swipe from that selected picture to the right and then down. Hold down your finger in that position and watch as it scrolls and selects all the pictures you want. I recommend copying to your external device in batches though if it’s a lot of files. Hope this helps 😊
