Coral Sea 2020 Expedition - Minke Whales, Sharks and Reef Life.

On 23 July 2020 the Mike Ball Coral Sea Expedition left Cairns, Australia we spent the next 6 days (7 nights) at sea. Great crew and the passengers were a pleasure to be around. Videos were shot mainly on Great Barrier Reef (Ribbon Reef #10) and Osprey Reef.
Highlight of the trip for me were seeing the Minke Whales up close and personal. This was my second trip to Osprey Reef.

“Dwarf minke whales visit the northern Great Barrier Reef each austral winter, forming the only known predictable aggregation of these whales in the world. Growing up to eight metres and weighing several tonnes, they are exceptionally inquisitive and often approach boats, divers and snorkelers closely, sometimes interacting for extended periods.”
This trip looked like it was not going to happen due to COVID-19, so we felt fortunate that all of us were healthy and many improved hygiene measures were implemented.
