Great advice. Even for a seasoned hobbyist everything you said was a great refresher. I especially like that you encourage to work through the hard times. Though at first glance being challenged with a unknown. When we do our research and ask a few questions. Most issues really aren't all that difficult.

Great to finally hear pH level's my dealer would only say stay below .5 phosphate reactor will be happy too!! Excellent advise corals need some pH, I am glad I subscribed to your channel!! My 150 is 95% l.p.s.i will relay or show them. Nowhere on KZbin do you find a hard number on pH!! Keep it up!! Happy Reefer with stats!! Thank you!!

My corals were dying everytime I get a new one. Been checking all parameters they were not a big deal n I was reaching dead end. It happened for 3-4 months and weekly big WC did not solve the problem. After doing some research, found out that my brass fittings were leaching out copper! Quickly remove it n ran Seachem Cuprisorb to absorb the copper. All new corals were happy n no more dead coral casualties ever since

Great video I really appreciate the follow through with what happens after you add corals. Can you possibly do a video regarding some of the different types of critters than are common with new setups? I freaked out when I noticed what turned out to be pineapple sponges. And now I have tiny little white swirls on my glass. I understand this is probably a huge topic but just something simple to keep the new guys like me informed on whether or not I should be worried about these things.

Great video, thank you for making/sharing it. @ 2:59, for a few seconds, was a glitch in the matrix, where some of the audio synced up and some didn't, freaked me out, I actually set my pipe down for a moment...hahahahaha

Great video series, thanks! What software are you using to track water parameters?
@jacobgricar7973 жыл бұрын
Just throwing out some information that I thought was gunna be covered at the end but wasn’t. If all your parameters seem fine but your corals aren’t doing well while you’ve kept the same routine, CHECK YOUR EQUIPMENT! I thought I had all the right parameters but my equipment was slowly become uncalibrated. I ended up losing over $1,000 in corals. So remember that it’s not just about your tests but also equipment.

So one step wouldn't be a major water change?

Can you do a nano reef tank under $500

Yes, easily. Start with an Fluval Evo 13.5 or similar.

My Zoanthids will not fully extend. I've going through all the motions with water testing, adjusting the lighting, etc. It's been 4 weeks of them looking shriveled and unhappy. I've followed suggestions to dip them, brush them, and occasionally flush them with a turkey baster. Does anyone have any tips other than those? One problem I am having is that my pH levels keep dipping below 8.

Are there critters or fish constantly bugging them?
@myclee195 жыл бұрын
I noticed that I had a hermit crab that liked to hang out near them, one morning I caught it crawling on top of my GSP. That may have been the issue. However I removed the hermits a week ago and I'm still getting the same results from the zoas, skirts will not extend.

@lisadimercurio94735 жыл бұрын
Have you tried increasing your feeding of the fish? Brigjtwell makes a product to increase nitrates

My zoas open fine but I wish I could figure out why they don't grow.
@LJsReef5 жыл бұрын
How many different zoas do you have? Some zoas are just slow growers like Rastas zoas. They are Notorious slow growers. Try moving them around to different spots in your aquarium. Different flows and light levels matter to different zoas/palys.

L.J.s Reef I have 2 polyps of scrambled eggs that I got a year ago that still have only 2 polyps. The other names I know are fire and ice and either blondies or bam bams. I have a few others I don’t know the names. Do you feed your zoas?
@leeslinkard69205 жыл бұрын
@@lisadimercurio9473 I dust mine occasionally with reef roids. Seems to help them grow (well some, some are just slow growers like LJ said.) but with no scientific fact to support that .... But what could it hurt? I've read both that its a waste of money and that it's worth it, that said I guess it's dealers choice. If nothing else it will get into the water table and they will indirectly feed on it.
