😂That story about the vegetable farmers' bouquets floating by you with the single gladiolus sticking up like it's giving you the 'middle finger' made me laugh so hard that I was in tears!!! 🤣😂🤣

Gosh the market conversation about veggie farmers hits my soul so deep 😂 at my market the produce farmer is selling watermelons for $12 and a small head of cabbage for $8 (not organic) but was selling 12 stems of peonies for $10 😣 so. much. fun. 😂

Love hearing your stories. Alex you look great. Talking about how you adapt to where you are, I can't imagine being out in the sun and heat as much as you are with the garden, let alone doing it when you are pregnant. We had frost last week (not normal). You both have such a great attitude and approach to growing flowers.

Just as an fyi, for me in WI agrostemma has a vase life of about 7 days if you harvest when the first bloom on the cluster is open. It may have a shorter vase life in warmer climates? Not too sure! I’ve grown the white (ocean pearls) for the past 3 years and florists really do love them! The purple one “purple Queen” has 8-10 day vase life according to a North Carolina University study. It’s mentioned in the postharvest book published by the ascfg. That color would likely appeal to your customers, Alex, if you are looking for a new spring crop. 😉 Mine bloomed in the tunnel along with the end of ranunculus/beginning of peony season. I will be fall sowing outside the tunnel in early September.

Agree, zones mean nothing. I can walk to my friends house and our growing conditions are completely different. I'm on clay, she's on sand. I am closer to sea level and have about three weeks on her for both first and last frost. The sunrise comes up over Quadra Island and hits us immediately and all day. She is surrounded by trees and gets far less sun.

Agrostemma. Never heard of that one. Looked it up, reminds me of alstroemeria (also called Peruvian lily) but it’s much simpler & doesn’t last as long. I should learn more & why florists like it so much & with such a short life cycle how it is worth it!

This is my first trial year…I think I remember you guys talking about this in a video but I’m unsure…would you guys suggest a second year to even do spring flowers? I’ve spent so much this year I haven’t even paid for what I’ve spent yet lol

Hello there. Whats was the tall variety called on the tulips?
@AllisonErdly-yb1et6 ай бұрын
I think maybe she mentioned Darwin. They are typically easier to get great stem length

Why not just plant out your tulips in October when I get them
@CoramDeoFarm5 ай бұрын
Bc they have to be pre chilled for at least 8-10 weeks and it’s too warm in October
@Pink_berry_farms4 ай бұрын
@@CoramDeoFarm I’m so confused lol because we just chill them through the winter and they pop up in spring it’s most not get cold enough then there

The disrespectfull way you talk about people who attempt to make direct sown flower bouquets and how they do it, is not nice. Be careful of pride.
