I used to work as a cemetery caretaker. I dug holes for the grave markers and I cleaned the buildings at night.. Yes, it was spooky sometimes, but I loved those jobs. People used to ask me all the stuff in this song. Listening to this made me so nostalgic!

I’m a gravedigger/cemetarian, what have you, and this is a nice enough song but I’ve never heard a song about gravediggers that isn’t more than a little bit contrived. Please remember that I said this song is nice before flaming me. But I’ve yet to hear any song that truly speaks to the experience of being the steward of land set aside for ritual, remembrance and healing. It always seems to be something focused on the creepiness of the “graveyard”.
