I'm 67 and have lived in Corby since I was 6 years old. I quite agree that our town centre leaves a lot to be desired. You can walk round it in 10 minutes and nothing ever changes apart from Eastern European shops opening all over the town. We do have stunning countryside that surrounds us though, and many historical houses and sites to visit in the area. The thing that makes Corby is the people. They will rally round when there is a crisis and help anyone that needs help. We have a great charitable attitude here. We look after our own.

Hi guy, thank for visiting our home town, I’m glad you liked it, you missed so much just across the street, Olympic 50 meter swimming pool with high diving boards, theatre that has great shows, a cinema with 6 screens.

Yes I noticed that... I just visited corby for the first time, some of its a little rough but it seemed a friendly place, I was very impressed by the area you mention. Very odd that they missed it, maybe it didn't fit the fact they are portraying it as a sht hole.
@BobBobOnYouTube2 жыл бұрын
For some reason, they advertised Corby homes in the London Underground when the Corby train station opened. Lots of Londoners sold their homes and moved to Corby, causing Corby house prices to increase. Houses in Corby use to be a lot cheaper.
@jlp71847 ай бұрын
That's funny. In the late 80s I remember Londoners would talk down on Corby...wouldn't go near it. Even spoke bad about the women.. " They only drink pints there mate! Lol" . Didn't think that was a bad thing..just love to have a good time. Mind you ...a Corby girl I knew then was stacking large empty Sangria bottles in a window on display from street view. Her mom found out ..told her to get rid of those bottles. Lol

@@BobBobOnKZbin Interesting. In the late 80s I remember visiting just about every city in England. Londoners was often used.. referring to London citizens...not a particular group or an era. Maybe a lot of us Americans misunderstood what they meant.

You have been very kind, but you only really visited the shopping centre area. You could've gone up a little further you could've seen the new pool, library, and cinema complex. You could've also seen the surrounding living area, and the old town which is beautiful. It's also surrounded by the amazing countryside. And at the end of the day. You could have gone somewhere worse. You could have visited Kettering.
@lynseycameron94062 жыл бұрын
Have just seen this. My family have lived there for ten years. I visit my family regularly there. We stayed at the Saxon Crown last year. It was lovely. Though I wouldn't have gone out around there, on my own at night. But I live in Norfolk, so it's different. The houses might have seemed expensive. As they have built six very posh housing estates in Corby, over the last 10 years. Just outside Corby. On the way to Kettering is a lovely farm campsite, with a cafe and farm shop on site. We stayed in our caravan there 3 years ago. Fantastic place to see Red kites. And the most amazing showers yet. I used to live near Stamford 26 years ago. At RAF Cottesmore. And regularly went to the Morrisons. It's near Burghley House. Stamford market on a Friday was amazing. Thanks for giving me some good memories. Take care of yourselves x

I remember somone scrawled over a sign saying wat yeu loookin at!! No attractions. The best thing about Corby is the exit roads. The surrounding country side is really lovley and this is just a blight on the landscape. I know as I spent 33 miserable years there. When the steelworks closed they had to build a huge tempoary labor exchange to deal with the signees. Majority of the people were unemployed. The gov were terrified that the population would disperse and gave Micheal Hessltine the job of finding a solution in which he made it a "National Enterprise zone" with next to zero buisness rates and other incentives to attract buisnesses. It did stop the exodus of people degentrifying other ascending communities which was it's purpose. A bit like containing a social "Chernobyl". It worked, but you wouldn't want to visit.
