Hey, thanks for the cord guide instructions. That was super helpful. People who complain about the overgrowth issue just don't know how to use it. I had an even smaller one, 16" and on the highest setting you can get through overgrown lawn. And I've gotten through two foot thick stuff by just tilting it up and moving through then doing a second run. Easy peasy. And the cord is super easy to navigate if, like you said, you start close to your cords wall socket, and do your rows outward from there. Just got this model and appreciate the upgrades of the mulch attachments. I had to make my own for the 16 inch. This is far superior. And, for me, as a woman, the mulch bag is a perfect size. If it was bigger, I could not lift it when full. This model is more expensive now, but since it seems to last a decade or more its maybe $25 a year. Very much worth it.

The way I think about my corded mower is... If I can vacuum with a cord with many more obstacles, I can mow my lawn once a week/ 2 weeks and just plan a route that keeps the cord usually out of the way... Esp if I ever get good enough at pulling in a straight line

I have one and it is a beast. Sounds like an airplane getting ready to take off but with power comes a clean cut and good packing all the way into the rear of the bag. It cuts better and packs the grass into the bag better than my 5 h.p. Craftsman self propelled mower. I have never come close to cutting my power cord. Just start close to power source and work yourself back and forth moving away from the house.

This is a great mower. I have the same one and it's great until you need spare parts. I was on hold for over 3 hours with the Greenworks customer service before they hung up. I ended up spending another 3 hours online finding the parts I needed as it can be difficult to find parts for locally and warranty doesn't seem to cover anything that is needed. They say it runs quiet but I found the noise comparable to a gas powered mower.

Just got this model. Been using corded mowers since 1976. first one for 20 years, next one for 25. This is my 3rd. Also FYI - it's better to use a heavy duty extension cord (12AWG). A 16(AWG) cord could strain and mower and possibly shorten its life.

I Just bought a house with 1/3 acre lot and while we'll eventually convert much of the grass lawn to low maintenance landscaping and planting beds, I still need to cut all that grass for a few yrs. I certainly don't want a loud polluting gas mower, like in my childhood, but I'm trying to decide how much I'll hate dealing with a cord vs a more expensive cordless mower - which obviously will be weaker and have finite run time. It's the same argument for why I love and hate my cordless Dyson vacuum - but on a larger scale...LOL

Aqua Moon sorry. I didn’t see the notification. According to my purchase history I purchased “the model 2516302 Greenworks 20 inch 40v Push Mower.” Original cost was $349. I paid $64 plus taxes. I also purchased the 40v edger, blower, & hedge trimmer $40 each. Lol Walmart was bae that month.

I had a (very) old electric mower and it was a bit weak, then I put a chunk of heatsink form an old computer power supply on the full-bridge rectifier and it went nuts with RPM, but the old bearings broke. If it was brand new it would have lasted much longer. Having no heavy battery or engine to push around is great, you just gotta use your brain regarding the extension cord.

I bought one and a 12amp extension cord to go with it... cut the yard one time.. got to the back yard turned it off hooked up the weedeater to cut then hooked back up the mower to finish cutting and it won't turn on..

I'm pretty sure it would work, but you may want a lower gauge. I have been using this mower for a year and my extention cord is getting quite the workout. The more rugged the better.

1 horsepower is 746 watts. 125 VAC x 12 amps is 1,500 watts, or about 2 horsepower. Most gas walking mowers produce something like 4 horsepower. For low-speed applications like mowing a lawn, torque is the figure that gets the job done. If the motor speed on both gas and electric mowers remains constant, torque will scale proportionately. This means a 4 horse gas mower will make twice the torque of a 1500 watt electric mower. For me, the greatest advantages of this mower are the lack of all maintenance, emissions, and battery. Cordless electrics do have the capability to produce greater torque since they're not limited to the amperage limits of a 125 VAC circuit, but rather their own built-in circuits. But batteries are heavy and expensive, and they degrade over time. A corded electric using a high quality motor can probably last a lifetime if you keep it in good condition. To me, the con of having to keep track of a cord is outweighed by the fact that there is no battery to degrade. But the lack of torque also means that if you're the kind of person who mows every 10-14 days, this will machine will probably have a hard time. If you're cutting a lawn that hasn't been cut in a month or more, forget it. If you mow your lawn reliably every week, this mower is probably plenty to get it done. Hell, get all electric yard equipment and never buy gas or two cycle oil again. And that one extension cord can be used with all your equipment. Just be sure to get one that's long enough. I'd wager a bet that for most people, a #12 cord, 50 feet in length is enough to reach every corner while being thick enough to avoid excessive heat buildup.

Because of the ways electric motors and gas engines develop torque its not going to give an accurate idea of performance to do a direct 1:1 horsepower comparison. True, a horsepower is a horsepower. But that's not the entire picture, and the torque matters significantly more. Besides that, there was actually a pretty big lawsuit that was settled for something like 7.5 million dollars. But let's assume that the rating is accurate for simplicities sake, and I'll try to explain why performance is about more than horsepower without getting too technical. Basically a 4 HP gas engine is 4 horsepower only at its peak, not all of the way through its powerband. Because torque and horsepower affect each other this means that the torque also fluctuates. If a gas mower starts to bog down it will be operating at a lower part of its powerband which means both horsepower AND torque are decreased, which leads to it being easier to slow the blade, which usually means if you don't back off its gonna stall. Conversely, electric motors have 100% torque at 0 rpm decreasing as the wattage increases. So the power curve looks very different. While at these low wattages torque remains at nearly 100% lets assume it didn't. Because of the way electric motors generate torque as the blade slows horsepower may be reduced but torque is NOT, the torque will actually increase. As long as people are using PROPERLY SIZED extension cords, voltage drop will be minimal. A good electric mower can be crippled or even destroyed by cheap garbage extension cords. Both types of mowers absolutely still have a place, I just think a lot of people falsely think that even small gas mowers like the 160cc I used to have are significantly more capable than an electric like this. It's not. It may make more HORSEPOWER but that doesn't necessarily mean it PERFORMS better, only that under ideal conditions (which lawn mowing incredibly thick vegetation usually isn't) it has the POTENTIAL to do more work (and I mean the actual definition of work in physics). www.engineeringtoolbox.com/electrical-motors-hp-torque-rpm-d_1503.html Has some cool info about electric motors if anyone wants more detailed reading.

Honestly, I would have to say no. I have mowed the lawn while it was starting to rain slightly and everything was fine, but because it requires an extension chord plug in, there are too many variables there for it to be waterproof.

Thanks for the video. I just bought a Greenworks 10A corded mower. I have a lot of yard, but I wanted something to do touchups (what can be seen from the street :)) between when the "pro" comes and mows the whole thing. The orange outdoor extension cord I have is 16G, 100' I use it with my leaf blower. Will this be ok to use with this mower, there are so many opinions I'm more confused than ever reading them. I would be curious to find out what kind of a carbon footprint as well as obnoxious sound in obnoxious smell content is involved in producing enough electricity for you to be able to plug that mower in anytime. I'll bet it's not as big a trade-off as you lead it to be when you say how much better though little electric mower is than a gas one. Just sayin'

Might save on pollution but where the blade connects they used thin tin and it breaks easily and could lose a leg. But if it works longer than 2 or 3 months without breaking that weak point, you can have it dropped off at the dump and you can buy a real lawn mower after you learn this lesson. wonder what the carbon foot print was to make and transport all those bad mowers and how many dumps will be filled by this product. Saving the planet is not a purchaser's 1st concern and since Oil and Gas came from the earth, dropping a little will have no effect on the earth. In fact, if you really want the world to be cleaned up from oil and gas, one should help the oil companies that are trying to collect it all. Just saying, that most people just want to know about quality and not hear about how bad they are for trying to follow city ordinances demanding that they cut the lawn. Seriously cut the guilt and if you are going to review something, tell us if its made to last or just another object that we will have to buy every year. Want to save the world from factories and pollution, buy quality and the ability to buy quality parts and not keep buying the same object every year.
