Friend I got this for Christmas! I asked for it because of this very video.

I've used an x8 quite a bit this past summer. Very handy, especially for smaller tires like motorcycles, equipment and campers. Not suited for air up/down of large 4x4 tires as some channels will lead you to believe. It's amazing how much louder an air pump sounds at a camp site in the morning.

@LivingOffTheSlab Жыл бұрын
I thought this was going to be louder, but it is about the same as my old pump. Yeah, I do feel a little bad pumping the tires early in the morning, even at a hotel, but kids and dogs are even louder...lol.

It would be nice to see this unit have a back-up plan... like an outlet to hook up a 12 volt adapter cord if the battery was too low to pump or dead.

Same. I keep thinking I'll try another pump when my cycle pump goes bad. But it just keeps on keepin' on. It's a bit heavy and big though. But I like the looks of this.

Maybe a hand pump, sounds like a good idea.

I used similar but, they all fail after a few months. So I switched over to a small portable booster/jump starter pack with 12v port attachment and carry the small harbor freight 0-100psi pump. Small compact footprint for both and they work great. Keep up the good work.

If you have the room to take it along it looks like a fine piece of equipment .Being cordless seems a bit redundant when you have a larger / stronger battery on the bike . I guess if you ever had a flat and a dead battery this would be a lifesaver . If you plugged this into a usb on you bike would it charge a dead battery . That would be cool .

We'll see how this works on a long trip, but it is so much easier than unwrapping the cord, plugging it in and rewrapping it. Also, being able to set the desired pressure with auto shut off is awesome. I think those things will be worth having to charge the battery once a week...but we will see how it goes. In theory you could charge it while riding. I do that with cell phones and GoPro batteries.

Thanks Craig, looking forward to the next one. You know that you have the tpms in the bike right? A PITA to get to it and the bike has to be moving but it does work and seems to be very accurate. Looks like a good unit. If you can provide the weight and measurements for packing in the next video too please. Merry Christmas to you and Cathy!

How about a real cordless smart pump? The one working via a bluethooth? You open an app on your phone which triggers a spacial cap on the tire via a bluetooth and that cap starts to pump the air into the tire while displaying the PSI (or barr) on your app. You also can set the maximum pressure you need. In the meantime you're sipping your favorite drink :). Kidding aside, 120$ is a steep price for this gadget. You can get one on amazon for half that.

I'm wondering what the benefit is of a battery powered pump on a vehicle (car or bike)? On a bicycle I can definitely see the logic (although it's on the large size for a bicycle) or around the house if you don't have an air compressor (great option for that). Seems like batteries just make it bigger, more expensive, increases maintenance and reduce the lifespan of the device without really offering any benefit when you have a bike right there with power available? When I chose a pump for ADV use, size was one of the bigger concerns which is why I bought the Aerostitch (also at the time it had the fastest time to pressure numbers)... and while I've not been super impressed with the Aerostitch (still took quite a while to pump up a rear from zero to 42lbs and got VERY hot), it WAS small so didn't monopolize any more space on the bike than it needed to.

When a vendor says "up to" 40 minutes, that means they may have seen 40 minutes one time in a lab. Most likely you will see half that in typical use. i definitely avoid battery powered devices when given a chance. I already have a battery in the bike so carrying extra batteries is just extra weight and space, not to mention the extra purchase cost.

I just bought this and it seemed to do great on front tire at 38 psi. When I did the back I need 41. I'm at 35, 36. But when I turn it off it says 80 or 90 the I adj cord and says 35. When I turn it on it starts and stops. Hit it again keeps doing the same thing. I took it out of bike mode to no mode to get higher pressure and does the same thing. Won't get over 35 and still stops and starts. Any suggestions?
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab Жыл бұрын
I am not sure, mine does not have any issues. I sent the target to 42 and it fills the tire with no problem. Stops at 42. I would try it in manual mode and set the target to 41. If that does not work, try contacting Fanttik.

Would have been interesting to see it run until it stopped and get the time to zero charge.
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab Жыл бұрын
There are safeguards to prevent it from overheating, it would run that long. What I did was about 15 minutes total to half charge.
@LTVoyager
@LTVoyager Жыл бұрын
@@LivingOffTheSlab I was thinking more of battery life than overheating. Often those battery gauges are nonlinear and what it says you have half the battery left it is often 1/3 or less. Just curious how close to the 40 minutes you would actually achieve.
