I have seen one secondary terminal (S1) of CBCT kept open, on asking it was found not in line. Module was in running condition. My question how it is safe and different from CT

May be that ct have some internel load impezance. You have to check datasheet of that ct.

If CT through hole type and current carrying conductor is pass through CT then primary turn is 1 and secondary is depend on what out required as per primary current.

It will generate current and that current transformers required some burden/ load by which current converter into voltage and Relay ckt will sense and trip circuits breaker

Because in healty condition the total vector sum of the flux is balanced in the core any it operate when the unhealty condition occurred
