Core Destruction 7 - Atomics vs Pegasus (Marble Race)

Welcome to Vortex League - six teams facing off against each other in a marble race core destruction battle to take the others down.
Each team has its own weapon loadout and home stadium, with each team playing each other home and away. Match winners walk away with 3 points, the losers get zero.

Weapon Info
Clusters are slow moving, but break into bomblets when they hit something, including enemy weapons.
Ricochets fire 2 projectiles at a time, and bounce around until they hit something, or a set amount of time has expired.
Rockets are fired rapidly, but take time to build up speed using their thrusters. Not very accurate.
Saws can drill through an opponent’s shield and reach the cannon even if the shield is previously unbreached.
Spread shot fires accurately but in a spread of 5 separate shots.
Sticky bombs attach themselves to the opponent’s shields. After a set amount of time, they will explode. If they are hit before they explode, they misfire and deal zero damage.
Swarms fire rapidly but inaccurately, but home in towards the enemy’s cannon.
Healer bot
Healer bot duration is determined by the marble value using a non-linear formula.
Time in seconds = 1 + 0.5555556 * LogBase2( marbleValue ) + 0.038 * marbleValue

Off topic question, but... I'm rooting hard for pegasus. Are they going to be able to climb out of losers bracket? Or was this more of a second chance for the atomics?

@@strawberrypupper897This is the 3rd match for Pegasus, with 10 in total to play in the league. So yes, lots of chances for Pegasus to win the whole thing, if things go their way!

Did this channel used to be called "Thing Machine" and was made by the nice KZbinr that explained how to make these 0 player games or am I just misremembering?

@ Yeah, but since this is a) a secondary channel and b) expressly made for this series. They rebranded to the official name of the series.

@@strawberrypupper897is correct. Thing Machine was a good placeholder before I knew what the focus of the channel would be, but asking people to remember both names might be too much to ask. However, this change might be confusing for people who subscribed to Thing Machine and then suddenly are seeing Vortex League in their subs. Sorry about that - I put out a community post but it doesn’t reach everyone.

You should have seen atomics vs inferno, they had a huge number teasing both sides for the rest of the match.

Atomics: gets slight booboo, tiny scratch, no big deal all of Atomics marbles worth 100+: "SOMEBODY CALL FOR A MEDIC?" i swear i think like only once did they turn a marble worth 100+ into actual ammo...

*-- Weapons guide --* *Swarms* _(Atomics primary)_ - Targets the opposing core and adjusts course accordingly with increasing speed. Causes minor AOE damage to shields on impact with any surface. *Ricochets* _(Pegasus primary)_ - Fired in parallel groups of two. Travels quickly in a straight line and causes shield damage on impact. If it hits a wall instead of an opponent's shield, it will reflect off of the wall and continue to travel. *Clusters* _(Atomics secondary)_ - Travels in a straight line and causes shield damage on impact. Will break into five smaller explosive projectiles on impact that are affected by gravity. *Rockets* _(Pegasus secondary)_ - Travels in an erratically-curving path with increasing speed. Causes minor AOE damage to shields on impact with any surface. *Sticky Bomb* _(Atomics tertiary)_ - Travels in a straight line and sticks firmly to the first shield it touches. Will explode after a few seconds, causing moderate AOE damage to surrounding shields. Can be cleared if struck with an opposing projectile at any time. *Saws* _(Pegasus tertiary)_ - Travels in a straight line with moderate speed. Upon impact with an opposing shield, it slows to a crawl and chews through shields continuously for a few seconds. All projectiles can be removed from play instantly when colliding with an opposing projectile unless otherwise specified.

atomics definitely had the better performance per point scored. swarm seemed pretty strong in this matchup, it's very good for both attacking and defending since it has a wide spread but never misses. it would be nice to see total points used (sum of all shots and points invested into healing) as a stat later c:

Yay Pegasus! Atomics were doing pretty well there though! This match did well to showcase the difference between Swarm and Rocket. Swarm homes in, but does less shield damage on hit. Rocket also spawns a lot faster than Swarm, which makes it better for swarm tactics, amusingly. Atomics seem like they’re a tough team! Glad Pegasus could get a win over them though!

The 90 from Atomics went over to Pegasus and got x3, which caused the finishing blow. A pretty cool end, quite unfortunate for Atomics!

Spoiler Block Atomics did well to even keep that close, their largest ammo (approx 1300) went healing all three times, they also suffered quite a lot of ammo loss.
