Strictfp: strictfp is the modifier applicable for methods and classes but not for variables. Strictfp modifier introduced in 1.2 versions. Usually the result of floating point of arithmetic is varing from platform to platform , to overcome this problem we should use strictfp modifier. If a method declare as the Strictfp then all the floating point calculations in that method has to follow IEEE754 standard, So that we will get platform independent results

Even tho you have the same parent as your brothers and sisters, you don't have the right to touch their private or protected parts. That might help you remember it, but the reason is, that if you have a reference to your own type, you know what is going on with that class, full understanding. If you are a Duck, you understand how Ducks work and behave. A Turkey is also a Bird, this is true, but you despite being a Bird as well may not fully understand how a Turkey really works, so messing with the protected parts of a Bird that is a Turkey could easily cause some very bad misbehavior of the Turkey which they would be blamed for, but it came about because you are a Duck and did some things that seemed good to you as a Duck but were very harmful to a Turkey. So if it walks like a Duck, quacks like a Duck and swims like a Duck it can't pretend to know exactly how to be anything but a Duck -- if you can mess with protected members inherited from Bird than you can be breaking things for poor Turkeys without realizing it or intending to. The rule is there to keep your classes safe from my incorrect ideas, and mine from yours despite us having the same Parent class.

If we declare the protected member as static in the parent class of pack1 then its allowing access outside the package with all the 3 types of references A a = new A() B b = new B() A a = new B() Can someone please help to understand this If we declare as non static then it's working as described by Durga sir .

Dear Durga Sir, your teaching is so good and very easy to understand. Could you please tell me what exactly the need of using protected modifier. If we create a object using child class by default we are getting the parent class features. So I am not seeing any restriction here. If you don't mind please explain what is the real use case we would need this protected modifier. Thanks in advance.
@sandeepe59896 жыл бұрын
Guys, rather than using some unknown 'fancy' words like other faculty , it's better to use known stuff.
@GalaxyStriker6194 жыл бұрын
You are correct but it is helpful or can be used if you want to restrict the access for non child classes outside of package. From outside package, if class is not child class then we you can create an object but can't access its protected members.

Sir here first 'Upcasting' is happening in first line of main method When you are printing as ob.x then output will be 10 Here shadowing is used which is defining variable with same name is happening in both child and parent and resolution always done by compiler i.e. by reference type

You can access the data members (member variables) and member functions, but you need to have a reference to your OWN type to do so, not merely a reference to the base class. Some write it to say "you must participate in the implementation" -- this is what that means. If you are a duck, you can access protected bird members, using a duck reference. You cannot access protected bird members given merely a bird reference, even tho the object itself is in reality an instance of a duck. You also can't access protected bird members in chickens or turkeys. Most good presentations of object-orientation show this clearly, I have not watched Durga Sir's ones yet, but I bet he does too. I hope you learned this sometime between posting this and now.

How non child class of same package can access protected members?? I think there is some mistake at time 1:22:08 diagram
@jonassx1006 жыл бұрын
Within Current Paackage anywhere
@jvsnyc4 жыл бұрын
because in Java, protected is on top of default / package. If you said nothing, it would be accessible by all classes in same package, if you say "protected" that adds "also by any subclass, whether or not they are in this package". C# lets you be more specific, you can have protected meaning sub class only, or everything internal (like package) PLUS sub classes, or even ONLY IF BOTH SUBCLASS AND INTERNAL -- Java is simpler, protected just means everyone in your class PLUS every subclass.

Sir can you please define the meaning of this A a=new B(); A a= new C();
@prateeksingh7426 жыл бұрын
Okkay consider A parent class and B child class now new B() means you are creating object of child class and a is reference which is in parent class which is pointing towards child class object.Hope you got you
