Core Space: First Born - Kickstarter Unboxing

Arrived today. Yippee. Production quality is excellent. Thank you Colin for your vision and dedication to produce this. I am an escapee from Games Workshop's money pit, and I'm happy with Core Space. The scenery is great with my existing minis (have Galactic Core andTrader Encampment scenery).

Excellent video Colin. Much appreciated. But please, 1 bit of caution about elastic/rubber bands: I've been heavy into gaming for over 30 years with a very large collection. You may not think this can happen, but it will... certain types of "rubber" bands will dry up over time (it may be 10-20 years, but it does happen). When it does, the dried bands become gummy and break into segments. They will stick to your components, especially cards. Some, if colored, will transfer dyes onto your components. Let's just say, with my 700+ games, I've gone in and removed every rubber band I used in decades of collecting. Perhaps a certain type of band will never break down (maybe true rubber??) but really consider if you want to do this. Of course, if you pull that game out continuously, you will detect hardening before it causes damage, but if left alone over time, you may regret using them. ...Perhaps hot, dry climates makes this worse.

Colin! The KS has so many extra components that I really could not fit it within the box. The stack of wall tiles was as high as the top of the white carboard framework.

It's a bit like cardboard Jenga but you can fit it all in. I ended up putting most of my counters in the miniatures box.

Very exciting to see the components. Love that you think of the people that might want to paint, but also think of the people who aren't going to paint and do your best to accommodate both parties. Can't wait to receive my Kickstarter next year and see what is coming next for Battlesystems.

We met a few years back at UKGE when Core Space was getting off its feet. We spoke for about 10-15 minutes about the game and, aside from how incredible it looked basically straight of the box, what I was struck by was your enthusiasm for the game. I'm so pleased it's gone on to do so well - very much deserved.

Franchement, si tu a la possibilité d'acheter et de jouer au premier, va y sans hésiter, cela te fera plein d'équipement, de perso et de mission (car tu en a sur leurs site mais que pour le jeu de base pour l'instant)

Just ordered the KS version of this from the UK as they were sold out here in the US. Really nervous it's a bit of coin for a game ( at least for me ) and I passed up another game Ive wanted that just went back into print. I hope I'm not just getting wrapped up in the setting and atmosphere. My two favorite games are Marvel Champions and the long out of print Gears of War board game. We'll see how this stacks up. What do I need to buy to have a true 2 player game besides the KS copy?

Yeah it's always an issue. I'm already thinking of getting something like a small box with dividers just for the extras.

I own all current expansions plus 3 additional terrain sets. I use a series of 4 Lt. "Really Useful Boxes" and one 6 Lt. (I believe) for large items like the shuttle. They stack well and play nice with each other. For the miniatures: I magnetized the bases and put a piece of sheet metal at the bottom of a 4 Lt. box, as of now all miniatures fit in a single box, I expect the First Born miniatures will need their own dedicated 4 Lt. box, but all-terrain expansions should fit in my existing boxes. So it looks like the KS version comes with the First Born equivalent of "Purge Reinforcements" so to speak? Will that be something that will be available separately? I'm pretty sure I recall the news crew etc being separate products as well. Just want to be sure I'm not going to miss anything for being a bit late to the game (missed the late pledge by days when I started the game) :(

Everything will be available at retail although you probably managed to snag everything (except the new pouches that aren't in this vid, we developed those after the KS).

Today the KS version arrived and I´m a bit confused.. we were really looking forward to the purge miniatures but those are not in there. Dont you need them to play?

No, Core Space: First Born is a separate game to Core Space set in the same universe where the First Born are the main enemy, not the Purge.

I'm new to core space. Did I understand correctly that I can only play the game alone with the KS Box because I have to buy additional gangs/bands for 2+ player games?

The KS edition comes with the In the Line of Fire expansion, you can play the characters as Traders instead of NPCs if you want to play two player games.

Actually, now I think about it only 2 of the minis can be traders so the KS edition is a solo game. You can however play two player if one player controls the NPCs.

ich hoffe du liest diese nachricht. so, jetzt kommt eine neue box raus und nun? ich habe mir core spase angefangen und jetzt bekommt man keine aufbaupackungen mehr. das ist ech sch..... da es jetzt wieder eine neue grundpackung gibt gehe ich davon aus, das diese nicht mit dem alten core space kompatibel ist. ich werde mir dieses spiel nicht mehr kaufen, aus dem grund, das man in kurzer zeit keine erweiterungen erhält. stehe auf spiele die ihrem publikum auch auf längerer zeit was bieten. zb. siedler od. warhammer.

First Born ist mit Core Space kompatibel. Wir veröffentlichen immer noch Packs für Core Space und werden dies auch in den kommenden Jahren tun.
