lol not son... thorfinn experienced askeladd's killing intent so often that he recognized that feeling. Fox never intended to kill thorfinn only to maim him, while Snake had every intention. ironically, Fox would not kill thorfinn but wanted the young master olmar to do it instead. while snake had no problem killing thorfinn for fox's reason of getting into olmar's good graces but took umbrage at torturing the slaves that were the property of his boss.

Fun fact : in the manga, the second part of the episode is way different and shorter : Einar don't try to choke him, and we don't see Thorfinn nightmare. Einar doesn't grab is hand but pushes him to wake him up. And the only thing Thorfinn ask is "why do you wake me every time I do a nightmare" and he answer by "How can you ask me that ? because we're friends" and his tought are like "He's not used to people being nice to him". After that there's a little humorous scene of sure "Thank you" that Thorfinn can't pronounce and the chapter ends there. So yes, no big speech by Einar to reason, wake up Thorfinn in the manga.
