Shouldn't the major-axis of the ellipse always be perpendicular to the center-axis of the circular front-door?

It is perpendicular, but the ellipse is too round/wide for the angle it's viewed from and therefore it looks a bit misaligned. I think if you are using an ellipse quide with fixed ratio you should adjust your perspective appropriately

+core77inc Michael DiTullo Copic (and Windsor & Newton) marker sets cost a pretty penny. To cut cost, could you advice which Copic marker colour numbers I should get as a bare minimum? And also in how many shades (of each colour)? I will be buying Copic marker paper, or other good brand. Or could I get away with cheap markers from AliExpress, when used on Copic marker paper? BTW, that ruler is hilarious.
