Sir I had a doubt in this lecture regarding Covariant Return type example.....I mean you declared class Animal{} class Dog extends Animal {} and you use it in totally different classes in Child and parent....we don't have any connectivity between them and how come it worked out.....plz clarify me if possible

Hello Nilesh, you can think covariant return type as below: class Animal { Animal inst_m1() { System.out.println("This is Parent Class Return Type Instance Method"); return new Animal(); } } public class Dog extends Animal { Dog inst_m1() { System.out.println("This is Child Class Return Type Instance Method"); return new Dog(); } public static void main(String args[]) { new Dog().inst_m1(); } } It is simply nothing but parent class return type method can be overrided with child class return type method.

in this, animal and dog are returntype just like int, void, flow etc.. but as animal and dog is class so these classes should exist but because we are using animal and dog as returntype in parent and child class so we do not need any connectivity. Hope this helps!!!!!

Rule#1: Overridden method & Overriding method signature must be same. I tried with different signature & still able to override the method: Example: public class Parent { void overrideEx(int a, char b) { System.out.println("Parent class - overrideEx() method"); } } public class Child extends Parent{ void overrideEx(int a) { System.out.println("Child class - overrideEx() - Overriding method"); } public static void main(String[] args) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub new Child().overrideEx(10); } } Output: Child class - overrideEx() - Overriding method Is it still considered as overloaded method? or it is just child class method call using its object? Also, Shouldn't we use Parent class reference for Overriding a method?

you are passing one value ..so child class executed..if u pass 2 values parent class will be executed..so the rule is parent class signature n child class signature must be same..😊
