It takes approx. 3- 8 years or more to achieve a doctorate. This is due to the amount of research and writing required for a dissertation. A dissertation has to be 100-300 pages min. of academic research to contribute to a discipline. It is independent work, but a student should have mentors from their senior thesis helping them. A doctorate candidate has to orally defend their dissertation research before scholars, who approves or deny a doctorate. A person cannot cheat. A doctorate dissertation becomes an academic scholarly book that can be used to teach college students and cited in academic research and books. I've found nothing to support that Cheyenne submitted a dissertation, or any essays or articles with her name contributing to any discipline. Also, Argosy was never an accredited university. Any degrees issued are invalid. I suspect Cheyenne chose a closed university with the idea that no one could confirm or deny her doctorate.

So biographical websites identify Ms Bryant as earning a PhD in Psychology from Argosy University. Argosy was affiliated with the University of Phoenix educational brand, until Argosy closed in 2019 and lost its accreditation. So, I do not have a problem with her presenting herself as a doctor, if she passed the Psychology Board exam. But, if she takes any unorthodox steps within the psychology field, people will give her less of the benefit of doubt than someone from an accredited school. If she is claiming to be a licensed psychologist, I am not finding it for the state of California, where she is reported to reside. I would place her in the area of someone who was granted an honorary doctorate. Her academics are not complete, but she has done some credible work in the field.

In order to complete and accredited doctorate program she would have had to research, write, and defend her dissertation under peer review which takes years and is published like a textbook. So the first thing a person who obtained a doctoral degree will always be able to recite 30 years later is their dissertation subject publication which you live and breathe for years of your life and it is published. You don’t complete a doctoral program in 1 year. The research alone takes at least a year. More importantly, anyone who has ever received a doctoral degree will also have at least 1 picture of their graduation with their doctoral graduate 👨‍🎓 on their head or with members of their graduate class, or the University yearbook pic with the doctoral candidates. Further, when completing the dissertation you meet with other doctoral candidates regularly in your field and class to discuss your progress and get feedback on their progress. Where are the members of her class?

I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, National Board Certified Counselor, and Grief/Trauma Specialist. I have an earned PhD (not Honorary) with Licensure in multiple states and ALL of my credentials are easily verified. As a Mental Health Contributor for TV/Media and Podcast I am cautious to protect the privacy and integrity of others when offering advice. Licensed Professionals are considered gatekeepers to the profession. With that regard I think it is in the public's interest as well as the personal interest of Dr. Bryant to produce her credentials due to the "viral" impact of her advisement.

Her dissertation and its defense are accessible if you pay to get into California State at Northridge's library database. I don't think it's on ERIC yet because they're rebuilding some of ERICs cloud servers in Santa Clara. I haven't looked her up on Google Scholar. Having said that, it's always a fool's errand to argue bona fides. That's as hominem. Hell, some moron even tried a poison tree fallacy to repudiate University of Phoenix. He said it's not accredited despite them having been accredited and recognized by the US Dept of Ed since 1978 (18mos after its foundation so that means they got it right around their first graduates were picking up an associate's degree). And while I don't know her specific, subdiscipline, you just might. You just might also be able to find her name in one of the journals. Grad students all gotta jump through that hoop. Well, my sister, father and brother-in-law did. I believe that was for the quantitative research component of their theses. Given that, she doesn't have to present a goddamned thing to the public. The ethereal plebians ain't her patients. She does, however, have to avail that to a client for whom she's offering therapy. And she damned sure don't owe Corey Holcomb Receipt 1. That's a fact.

If you have a PHD, the title of doctor in that field is what u have earned. It's not about having a license to practice what your scholarship is in. It simply means you have achieved the highest degree in that field respectfully. People seem to confuse the term. Now if you sleuth folk find out this woman doesn't have a doctoral degree in any field, nor a license to practice and is actively interacting with patients, then yes she is a liar. But I'm trying to figure out where she lied by calling herself dr. Bryant and she has an actual doctoral degree? It's not in defense of her, but it's common sense to ask.
