His sinker is absolutely filthy. Reminds me so much of Doc Halladays' back in the day... but with even more juice on it!

The way that sinker moves, its just too much. One of my favorite pitches in all of baseball.

That 2 seam makes me feel so nice inside when it tails back in to the lefties.
@tnicholas66206 жыл бұрын
I know that everybody calls his "sinker" a sinker, but it really doesn't act like one...Kluber's "sinker" runs in like a 2-seamer, and typically belt high sinkers that run across the plate are called homeruns...
@EonArashi7 жыл бұрын
It's kind of hard to grasp just how much movement that breaking ball has. According to some PitchFX measurements I've seen, it has 9.4 inches of horizontal movement on average. And that doesn't even count the vertical movement, that's just straight-up x-axis. Crazy.

Damn a 94-97 mph 4-seam only gets you a B- nowadays? It’s probably true. Guys are throwing HEAT now.
@TheSarge54454 жыл бұрын
Location and movement play a big part as well. Kluber's 4-seamer can be a bit "flat" if you know what I mean. When we think of movement on a fastball, we typically think of sinkers, and rightfully so. That said, take a look at some of the better 4-seamers in the game: Cole, Scherzer, Verlander, even Charlie Morton these days. Those fastballs DANCE.

What is the difference between a Slider and a Cutter... They look to have the same movement...?
@MVPFLF5 жыл бұрын
jonathan wright a Slider is a “breaking ball” (curveball, slider, screwball) where the ball “breaks”. Hits a peak in the air and moves vertically or laterally. A cutter is in between a slider and a fastball in terms of average velocity but Is a variation of a fastball. Cut-fastball. A cutter runs in the way you throw it but doesn’t “break”. A cutter is usually faster than a slider but a cutter and slider and be used almost interchangeably by some pitchers. Like Jake Arrieta and now Cole Hamels. :)

Cutters and sliders are very similar, same movement. But sliders have more movement than cutters. Cutters are like mini sliders.

@MVPFLF7 жыл бұрын
Dude, that's definitely not a slider. Do you see the mix of vertical and horizontal break? It's a slurve.
@EonArashi7 жыл бұрын
It's actually more like a curveball than a slider, according to most pitch-tracking computer systems. Sliders just don't have that much movement.
@rhagedorn7 жыл бұрын
+MVPFLF You can call it a slurve if you want but it's simply his curve. His 2 seam fastball is really tough on lefties because it backs up a few inches.
@MVPFLF7 жыл бұрын
Kluber's said it's simply a "breaking ball". So technically we're all wrong in his eyes. He won't call it either but it's all in healthy disagreements between us I suppose...

I think that sinker goes left when you are RHP and 2 seamer goes right when you are RHP
@bbigjohnson0695 жыл бұрын
The grip is the same with two fingers along the narrow part of the seams. RHP it will break in on a RHB. Much of the variation in the pitch is due to varying finger pressure.
