I remember back in the day me and my older brother were trying to record song from the radio and the DJ kept talking right when the song was starting and/or at the outro ruining the song, one day we called the local station to complain and it turns out they've had several complaints about it, so they stoped talking before and after songs and that gavr us the pleasure of having the song in a cassette right before its release date and we've made lots copies from that one for our friends, miss those days.

Corey, please make a full cover of Whiplash! That last snippet of it on Holier Than Thou sounded glorious😍

I know I am a metalhead to the core , no bs, and it's hilarious when Corey's explaining the whole taping situation, waiting and having the pause button on to avoid that clicking start sound, and the talking at the end. So so funny. I couldn't have said it better and more accurately than Corey did. Especially when the taking away from us, they were ours. I was pissed! The guitar solo in Struggle Within and the crunch after is the sickest! For that album imo.

I get what Corey is saying, I think all Metallica fans wanted something similar to Ajfa or Mop because they were so brilliantly done, I was very disappointed with the black album but as he said its a grower and is also a brilliant record in its own right

Great 4 part interview. Black album was a shocker for the fans who expected something more similar to earlier albums. Similar to how fans expect from Slipknot to make same music as on ST and Iowa. I love seeing both bands grow and explore different aspects of the music itself and the art they make and how they perform. They can't sound the same as before 40 ,30 or 20 years. They have changed over the years, mentally and physically and it would be very strange if they still sound the same! Corey sounds amazing and he nailed Holier Than Thou ! Every cover he makes is awesome. Sounds like original but with his special touch.

I have a different feeling on the Black Album, I've always loved it. I was 14 when Enter Sandman hit MTV and it was really the first Metallica song I heard. The Black Album was my way into metal, and will have special place in music for me.

I listened tallica since AJFA and became obssesed and diging them… when black album came i was a bit disappointed cause they’re becoming softer & sterile sounded…. BUT…. i realized that album really brought the band to crazy global known and me as a kid lived in 3rd world country (indonesia) finally get that chance to see them live in 92’…… thx to black album 🤘🤘🤘

I totally feel that I was a junior for the Black album and Senior for Nevermind. I too had an Awakening with all of the jocks and preps in my school one of the hottest girls in school actually wanted the lyrics for smells like teen Spirit

@@RyanJDowney_ 😊 high school was very hard for me being a metalhead in a school full of spoiled rich kids half of which were pretty redneck but thought their shit didn't stink

Not knowing much of anything else he did some of us ( in my friend group's case late 70s nonUs kids) blamed Bob Rock for bringing them into a more polished and accesible form of hard rock genre. We never considered that they were growing up and writing these songs from their life experience and expanding musical prowess. Took me years later to learn Kirk taking lessons or James taking lessons or Jason having written some of the best parts in the Black album. Had the exact same reaction Corey to Until It sleeps video. Memory Remains was cool though. It also took me getting back to Metallica years after Reload to learn how divisive the One video was. I have loved the music video and was suprised to find it had caused a backlash. It took me more than a decade more to learn that fans of a generation earlier than you guys had accused them of selling out and getting softer as early as Ride the Lightning because Fade to Black.

The Warning's career 'started' with Enter Sandman on KZbin. 7 years later they were selected to be the very first track on the album with Alessia Cara. The Warning are playing the Rockville Festival the same day as Metallica in November. Hmm ...

Very ironic for CT of all metal guys to admit the the standard behavior of “disappointed” in the softer side. Cuz he’s the master of that himself with Stone Sour.

For me, I actually grew to not really care for enter sandman or wherever I may roam. Heck I grew tired of all the singles for a good chunk of time and actually only really dug the deep cuts. Holier than thou, Don't tread on me, Through the never, Of wolf and man, The god that failed, My friend of misery, and The struggle within I really really liked. ESPECIALLY Don't tread on me (I'm alone on that I know).

Corey's take on holier than thou is exactly what I expected, his own style but still a tribute to James' feel and I Fucking Love it!! Not a fan of most on the Album unfortunately ....MOMFO
