Video Notes:
Our tour guide took us up the mountains to see the beautiful view that Corfu has to offer. Corfu is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea. It is the second largest Ionian island.
It’s called “the castle of the angel.” It is located at the top of the highest peak of the island’s shoreline in the northwest coast. It is kind of like the Acropolis of Corfu. The castle never fell despite the many attempts by pirates and Ottomans. During invasions, it helped shelter the local peasants.
He took us a nice restaurant with a beautiful view. We wanted a place to relax a little and of course drink our favorite drink: a cappuccino freddo. There are shops here but I didn’t really look around.
Next, we went to a small gift shop. They make their own olive oil, wine, and many other things. Our guide bought some bread and cheese to prepare a light lunch here while tasting their olive oils and wine. This was the highlight of the day. It was nice to taste some local food.
Next, we left to see the beach. It takes about 50 minutes to drive from the port of Corfu all the way to the other side of the island.
You can rent a little boat and play out in the ocean! Look, there’s a slide on that boat! Looks super fun! I wish I had more time to play. It only cost 10 euros for 1 hour. I felt that was worth it. I wish I was dressed to play in the ocean.
Taking a boat to see the caves would have been nice too!

We went during the low season so there’s hardly anyone here. During the peak season the entire beach is packed with people. It was nice and calm - I really enjoyed it! The only problem is that it was a bit too cold to jump into the water.
If I could do it over again, I think I would skip looking at the view in the mountains and just take a taxi here. Spend all day looking at caves and playing in the water. That would have been a perfect day. I will know for next time!
That’s it for my Corfu trip! We really didn’t do much here besides enjoying the beautiful island view. That’s why I felt like I would have rather chose an excursion with the cruise line or play at the beach on my own. It’s time to head back to the ship. Next stop: Kotor!
I added Kotor to this vlog because we weren’t able to stop here. Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro.
I guess that’s the downside with traveling towards the end of the season. It was too windy to safely take a tender to the island. The good thing is we didn’t book a tour for this stop. We were just going to walk around on our own since we’ve been on so many tours this entire trip.
