Enjoying this immensely. Juan Carlos is clearly a high-level narcissist and perhaps other things. Feel that one royal family is crazier than the next. With royalty comes excessive wealth, power, prestige, and privilege. The attitude of I'm above the law, I can do anything, etc. Am looking forward to the next episode. Queen Sofia very much cared about the affairs. When her husband first had an affair, Sofia ran back to her mother in Greece in tears. Her mother told her “look, you are married to a crown prince, you live in a palace. Put on a smile and go back to your husband.” And that is how she lived looking the other way.

Very interesting, Michel. Thank you. It never pays to be a mistress. Nearly all mistresses end up getting the short end of the stick, while time moves on relentlessly. One grows old, one thinks she is loved and is secure, then one day wakes up to the reality that she was just being used all along. If the King had truly loved her, he'd have divorced his wife and married her without all the games. Looking forward to episode 3.

I'm enjoying the episodes, you're doing a great job. I don't believe Corrina was hesitant to become Juan Carlos's mistress. A young naive woman might have said that and meant it. Corrina was too experienced. She describes herself as competitive. She had two divorces behind her. She's an astute businesswoman and negotiator. This is a woman who made herself a challenge for the king. She absolutely wanted to be involved with him.

I am an American that lived in Saudi Arabia for six years. Where you are correct that it was inappropriate for a single woman to travel with a group of men in the ME, it is not true that she couldn't "order food" and that women are considered "much lower than men." They have a different culture. Please don't spread ignorance judging something you don't understand from the context of western values. That's not fair.

Ma'am this is what SHE said in her interview on the podcast and this was HER experience. So she said this was true and maybe in her circle it was. She also may have said it more tongue and cheek that her friends were like " be nice to us so you can order food". But please keep in mind I am retelling her story. So not trying to spread misinformation or be unkind. But women in Saudi Arabia cannot drive or do a lot of things with out a man around. Also she attended Saudi in early 2006 they didn't amend the dining law until 2019. See here: apnews.com/article/05e396529ca22bb5cb741b081582dfe3 So that could also be why it is different now.

Im so sorry im listening to corrina complain about how she was mistreated in the bussines trip to arabia and how queen sofia acted with few grace she saw her at her haouse !! 😂 corina may tried to pose as dignifed but girl you were the misstress the hole time, doesnt matter if he loves you, if he lived with you in the little house , you were still the misstress did she really expected ti be treated as the queen ? No he was on Easter break from military school. His brother died in 1956 in Portugal. The dictator died in 1975 I believe and shortly after Juan Carlos became King.

According to the documentary his father didn't sign anything over, the monarcy was deposed by the faction that helped the dictator come to power and when the dictator got old he put Juan Carlos as hissuccessor. This is all According to this documentary as I remeber it but it was also said the father and rightful king was mad for a long time because he lost his place. I could be remembering this wrong and the documentary could just be fake news to get out in front of this woman's story breaking. I'm out of town for a funeral atm, if I find that documentary I'll email you the link I personally want to watch it again now.
