Thank you so much I love this edit. I love Snow and Lucy so much. Their failed love story pains me so much for some reason. If only Snow might opened his heart a little bit more and be honest and choose Lucy instead of power he would have been the happiest man in the world. I think they both loved each other and knowing what happened at the end makes me cry a lot 😔

they could've had it all if coriolanus wasn't obsessed with people respecting him and being on top. he had a case of the world's worst inferiority complex, so bad he couldn't even tell lucy gray the truth about the third person he killed. his insecurity told him if she knew what he did she would run, but she ended up running because he DIDN'T tell her the truth (which is SO ironic when you think about him telling katniss he would never lie to her) and then he went back to the capitol and had to convince himself love was a weakness and it would only stand in his way. i truly believe he lied his way to the top. lied to everyone around him and lied to himself.

I feel bad for both of them. In the book, they both have a lot going on in terms of life. It's been tough for them both, in ways alike and different. Having so much to run away from on top of the trust issues- it ended up breaking them down. I feel as Coriolanus wouldn't have grown to be such a tyrannical leader if he had a sense of security in his youth. Same with Lucy Gray. Being wary of him simply because of where he's from. Coriolanus had been indoctrinated and belittled so much in the Capitol that it's all he knew. He was made to believe it was right. Their relationship sadly fell apart as collateral damage. Such a gut punch.

It's sad because every time he felt himself slipping away and into letting himself enjoy the new life he had, he would make himself "snap out of it." He would remind himself of the Capitol and reiterate to himself that it was where he belonged. But he was always at war with himself, what he was taught - I sometimes blame Grandma'am, because she raised him to praise the Capitol as much as she did. And the thoughts of how things weren't always safe in the Capitol scared him because he had always been taught to praise it. Sometimes, I genuinely wish he had just spent more time in District 12. If he had been there a year, I don't think he would have ever left.

Dr. Gaul, Dean Highbottom, and almost everyone in charge were constantly telling him how bad he was and giving him the idea that he needed to do something big in order to prove himself. He has a heart, she wrote in tons of clues to prove it. The Capitol indoctrinated him so badly that he believed what he was doing was the right thing. The other part of him wanted a better life‐ then it was overpowered by the brainwashed conscience that he needed to stop and pledge loyalty to the Capitol all over again. I don't hate President Snow. A lot of fans dislike him for his regime, but pay no mind to the fact that he too was a victim. Notice how in the scene where Katniss is crowned victor‐ President Snow is on the verge of tears. Myself and some others believe that he saw Lucy Gray in her- being from 12 and a very strong woman. I believe the relationship between Katniss and Snow was rooted in jealousy. Hence the need to prove that her and Peeta were truly in love. Because they had an opportunity he never had, and they were wasting it with their pretending. Man. I don't know whether to like or dislike these books and the accompanying movies.. they make me sad.

@@91clarie I have read the Hunger Games Trilogy and the prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. A Ballad has two meanings:- It's 1st meaning is a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas. Traditional ballads are typically of unknown authorship, having been passed on orally from one generation to the next. It's 2nd meaning is a slow sentimental or romantic song. All of the Hunger Games books are love stories. “It's the things we love most, that destroy us.” and Snow was so very right.
