My Dad was born in Cork City (the North Side). He told me that the boys would doff their caps whenever they went past a church ... and Murphy’s Brewery. I wish he were still here so I could show him this.

I worked in an early house the summer of 1980 across the road from Beamish's. A young one behind the bar and the lads off the night shift would come in and they were so decent and the craic was good. Onto the Malt Shovel for the best of music on Sunday morning. A magic Summer and can't remember the rain!

Videos such as this are like time machines. Music really gives you a flavour of the place too, if not necessarily the time. Pity you can't hear what the lads are saying in the bar.

Looks more like around 1991 from some of the shop fronts. I left in `94. Whoever filmed it had real historical vision because some of the things highlighted were simply `normal` then, and would have been easy to leave out. Thank goodness it was caught. Thanks for posting

@@Parseenfroo sorry for that; from Little Island to the city-centre, the amount of change has to be seen to be believed. Eg. Little Island is a massive industrial estate as for Cork City, it's unrecognisable from that video. Kent Station area is being redeveloped to as are the Quays & centre itself. A lot of Grand Parade has been pedestrianised etc. The Bob Dylan song 'Times, they are a changin' was never more appropriate.
