black folk have such a rich and powerful legacy. i still don't mind a plate of cornbread and blackeyes peas. however, a true believer can see beyond the menu. that was all they had at the time. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST made black men warriors. ALL OF US. now just how did he do that? HE did it by example.

What a song.Reminds me of those good ol' days growing up in Greenville,Ms.Thank you momma and daddy but most of all,Thank you God for those days of just cornbread and black eye peas.12 of us and we never went hungry.

I agree with you. We had to be thankful for whatever our parents cooked. Pinto beans, either cabbage, or butter beans, with pig feet or ham shanks and butter cornbread.

Children today complain about what they don't want to eat whatever's on the table. They're going to wish they ate whatever was cooked.

Them southern families be talented because they couldn’t afford things people from the city could so they sang. They fixed. They cooked. This makes me happy seeing this talent.

brothers you're awesome ..and this is a nice rendition. .but come on. you didn't lwrite this song..the song popped in my mind so i tried to see if it was on KZbin. .not here by the original artists. i almost want to say it was the bright stars of Michigan ....but you took credit for writing the song in your preface. ..you shouldn't have done that... but again good rendition of it.

He didn't say that they wrote it. They arrived at naming it their theme song.
