I love the initiative and I salute all your efforts. However aquaponics would solve lots of cost issues with the heating and nutrients. I realize nothing on this scale is ever easy but I think that with the large tanks of fish acting as both a nutrient source and a thermal mass this would cut down on cost in some of the areas he mentioned. Rocket stoves with thermal masses are also great ways of heating areas for cheap. You could dry and then burn the left over biomass in the rocket stove.

Have you looked at using aquaponics? There is data suggest, "In fact, researchers have found that by maintaining an optimum root zone (via water in the system) temperature, standard greenhouse air temperatures can be lowered 15 ° F (8 ° C) without affecting productivity. you also produce less waste in an organic farm, and use the natural economic theory of supply and demand, which large scale farmers dont, and have to take subsidizes from the government.
Organic farming is a LOT more profitable because you're not allowed to use fertilizers or pesticides. The yield and quality however are significantly lower. The soil gets destroyed... Tell that to all the farmers who are still farming just fine on the land that their great grandfathers farmed on. It's called crop rotation and is required for organic too. Terminator seeds are just the outcome of lobbying against GMO foods, have to stop the plants from proliferating because that would be baad.
@saberur6612 жыл бұрын
actully all the organic farmers where live product a lot of food, and on a small plot of land. mot large scale farmers do not practice crop rotation,especially on corn and soy, and other farms that produce one or two types of food. terminator seeds put the farmer at the mercy of Monsanto and other GM companies, and have caused farmers to commit suicide because they can not afford to buy them year after year.
@saberur6612 жыл бұрын
you do know growing organic food is way more efficient for the farmer than growing conventional food, which for one kills the soil you grow in, and is not sustainable for the farmer who is at the mercy of the seed companies, as growing GMO food does not produce seeds viable for grow next season.
@Tuskengod12 жыл бұрын
You can't be seriously comparing the yield of organic farming vs real farming. A 25-34% drop in yield is seen between real farming and organic. Think about that for a while... Best case scenario: for every 4 farms growing organic food, one whole farmful of yield is wasted. Terminator seeds are an issue, but are an issue of patent law and the lobbying against genetically modified food. Even then, using non-GMO seeds real farming has a better yield than organic.
@Tuskengod12 жыл бұрын
Yay, using precious arable land for low efficiency organic growing for the sake of profit and aesthetics rather than using the ground to actually feed people using proper proven farming techniques. Selfishness ahoy!
